Armband2919/22

Arm ring. The ring is made of woven reed and covered with black fibre, mud and white and rust coloured pigment. Several strands of twisted fibre are attached to one part of the ring by a small strip of cotton. The strands are divided into two bunches, each joined at the distal ends with a lump of mud that also holds a feather.

Headband2919/20

Ring made of woven reed, covered with black, brown and rust fibre. Several areas are covered in mud and a light coloured pigment.. At the back of the ring are several short strands of twisted fibre sealed at the ends with mud. Tan and light pink feathers are attached to several of the strands. To each side of the ring are similar strands but with only a single feather on the right.

Headband2919/18

Ring made of woven reed wound tightly around a shaped reed under-structure. The object consists of two parts: an outer diamond shape and a circle contained inside. The two are attached with weave at four points. Mud and pigment cover much of the surface of the object in colours of dark brown, yellow, white and rust.

Dart Quiver2814/46 a-t

Dark brown wooden dart holder (part a), with 19 darts (parts b-t). Quiver is long and cylindrical and narrows slightly towards the base. Made of palm wood, with resin around the base. String is tied around the rim and attaches to a lid woven in a zig zag pattern. There is a circular wooden bead attached to the string. Inside the quiver there is a bundle of sticks wrapped in twine to hold the darts in place. Each dart is composed of a thin wooden stick with cotton tied to the tips with a thin piece of string.

Cedar bark basket in a cylindrical shape. The wall is formed by open stitched coiling. The bottom of the basket is also formed by open stitched coiling but the coils become successively smaller. Each coil is fully wrapped in cedar bark.

Basket2868/4

Small basket that has a handle. The handle is attached to each of the longest sides. The handle is formed by two pieces of grass twisted together. Around the top rim of the basket, there is a border made of cedar bark. Below this, there are three bands of two blue rows each set on the yellow background. The bottom of the basket is formed by checker plaited cedar bark strips. There is a circular metal and paper tag attached to the basket which has the artist’s name written on it in pen.

Small oblong basket with a rounded bottom and rim and a braided handle attached to the centre of the coiled rim. The ribs of the basket appear to be made of split bamboo wrapped with raffia. The raffia is primarily in its natural colour, but there are two dark blue dyed raffia rows woven around the central area. There is a maker/sale tag attached to the handle.
