Small rectangular bark cloth with designs painted in orange-brown, against a beige background. Designs consist of wide curved lines that extend from central circles, intertwining to form abstract crosses; similar abstract lines and geometric spaces in negative space between lines. Orange-brown lines bordered with solid and dotted black lines. Designs are inside a rectangular border; done in orange-brown with solid and dotted lines, and scalloped trim. Back of tapa is undecorated; maker's information written on label stapled to back.
Concave comb with eleven long teeth extending from an elongated, trapezoid-shaped handle. Three decorative triangular cutouts in middle of handle; alternating up or down triangles in a row. Exterior of handle is dark brown; interior of handle and teeth are yellow-brown. The exterior, smooth surface of the bamboo has been carved off the outside of the teeth.
Red-brown, rectangular bark cloth with black designs painted across front. Design consists of large concentric diamond inside a central rectangle, with a wide band border; plain "V" shapes extend from left and right points of diamond, touching left and right edges of rectangle. Diamond and "V"'s have created three triangular sections on either side of diamond; all are filled with different patterns. Designs consist of rows of triangles and horseshoe-shapes; back of bark cloth is undecorated.
Model sturgeon-nosed bark canoe (part a) with two model wooden paddles (parts b-c). Canoe hull has a long, pointed bow and stern, creating sharp angles at the opening. The body is shaped with rib and slat frames, lashed together with bark and plant fibre. There is metal wire along the underside of the stern, and a small hide tie towards the middle of canoe (left side). There is one thwart across the middle of the canoe opening. Paddles have rectangular blades with flattened handles; designs painted in light red and dark blue across front and back of blades. Smaller paddle (part b) has connected diamonds with crosses through them on front; horizontal stripes across back. Larger paddle (part c) has zigzags painted and incised across front of blade; chevrons across back.
Small ovular basket with imbricated designs across exterior, single-row foot, and cross-hatched rim. Walls of basket flare slightly outward from base, making opening larger than foot. Designs consist of inverted, concentric triangles, that extend from opening towards middle of basket. Done in black, red-brown, and light yellow-white; centres of triangles are light yellow-white. Two crosses extend from tips of each triangle; done in black with light yellow-white centres. Identical cross patterns in between triangles; done in red-brown with light yellow-white centres. Rim of opening, along exterior walls, decorated with naturally coloured cherry bark. Base and interior are undecorated.
String puppet. Puppet carved from a section of bamboo with three stacked faces carved in the upper half and a notch cut out of the top. The puppet is lightly carved with the designs painted in blue, red, teal and black. The top face has eyes that are underlined in red, a red down-turned mouth, black steeply angled eyebrows and a moustache and split chin beard. The second face has solid black angled eyebrows with blue lines above them, red outlined eyes, and a mouth with two incisors and two long fangs. The third and bottom face, has red outlined eyes with bright blue mask around the eyes, small black moustache, wide red lips with teeth showing, and three different designs of concentric circles along the jaw alternating between blue and black. Each figure has movable limbs, which are controlled by strings inserted into three holes on each side and have circular cross-sections of bamboo attached to the ends of each pair of strings at the bottom. The top two sets of limbs are longest with three cylindrical bamboo grass beads and long blade-like structures at the ends. The lowest set has two cylindrical bamboo beads and a circular cross-section of bamboo at the end. The carved designs extend into the lower portion of the bamboo and has two concentric hearts at centre. The back is carved with artist's signature(?).
Plastic doll standing with hands at sides. The doll has dark brown skin with curly synthetic black hair and brown eyes that open and close. The doll has a headband with three rows of small grey shells and an open weave head covering the hair. They carry a loosely woven bilum bag with pieces of wood(?) inserted horizontally throughout that hangs from a strap strung over the head. On the arms are dark brown woven arms bands and around the waist a thin woven band. The doll has a bark apron, covered by strings of small grey seeds that are twisted from the neck around the shoulders and then back around the waist multiple times. On the calves are mismatched woven leg bands.
Plastic doll standing with hands at sides. The doll has dark brown skin with synthetic black hair and brown eyes that open and close; it has a headband with three rows of small grey shells and a headdress with three tiered layers of plant fibre - in red, purple and natural (front to back, small to large). There are lengths of bark woven into the hair. The doll has a loosely woven cloak with horizontal pieces of wood(?) inserted throughout, with a bark cloth cloak layered overtop; also dark brown woven arm and leg bands, a chest band, and a skirt of twisted fibre over a red loin cloth. The doll wears strings of small grey seeds twisted from the neck around the shoulders and then back around the waist.
Basketry baby carrier with woven tumpline; made up of slat foundation and sides covered with coiled cedar bark. Carrier is rounded and wider at head; tapered and narrow at foot. Exterior sides and head walls have a repeating checkered square pattern, alternating between red-brown and black; thin bands of undyed bark in between squares. Exterior wall of foot has two squares with half red-brown and half black checkers. Interior of carrier is undecorated. Thin skin straps and ties threaded through top edge, near four corners and head of carrier; tumpline is attached to skin straps at foot. Tumpline has central diamond design with triangles extending from either side; diamond and triangles are undyed. Negative space around shapes done in black, red, and olive green alternating bands.
Rice straw 'painting' on black cloth, stiffened with paper(?). Painting depicts scene of canoe-type boat full of people paddling. Mountainous shoreline in the background of the painting, along with birds in the sky; palm tree, with small plants around base, in the foreground. Boat has a tall stern and low bow; three people closest to the stern are standing, rest of paddlers are seated. Back of painting lined with white paper; red fabric tie threaded through paper, for hanging purposes. Manufacturer's mark stamped in bottom right corner, and pencil inscription written along left edge; both marks on back of painting.
