Carved dark wood figure, painted with yellow, reddish orange, grayish white and brown pigments, with elongated mask-like face that has spiral shell eyes and wild pig teeth with hanging feathers protruding from its nostrils and spines down its back. On top of the head is an elaborate pointed headdress with mask at front and back, on the shoulders are painted masks, and around the face is a fringe of cassowary feathers imbedded, along with an assortment of small shells, into a base of brown clay. Climbing up the figure's legs from the mounded base with decorative bands of circles is a small alligator.

Brown birch bark basket with a slightly oblong-shaped top and a square bottom. Bark is cut, bent and laced into place at twp sides, with a twig around the rim which is overcast with thin strips of dyed black root or bark. Vertical half-moon and linear patterns are scratched onto the exterior sides, revealing a lighter shade of bark. Interior is light coloured with a very rough surface.

Rectangular brown birch bark basket with lid. Bark is cut, bent and laced together with reddish coloured root at the four corners. Twig splints around the rim of both lid and basket that are overcast with thin strips of root? and the lid also has interwoven long strands of black hair. Geometric and linear patterns of cross hatching and inverted triangles are scratched onto the exterior sides of the basket and top of the lid, revealing a lighter shade of bark. Lid has an arched handle-like strip of bark attached to the top centre with two X stitches of dark root.

Headdress2777/1

Colourful headdress with a turtle on mulberry fibre, wrapped around the front of a corrugated cardboard and plastic head ring covered with white fabric and decorative elements. A long blonde hair wig and pink feathers are stitched on to a frame at the back. Around and above the nose of the turtle are bands of green and red metal beads and brown shells, from the top of which project five black fabric-covered wood sticks with white shells and ivory coloured polished coconut shell rings adhered to their lengths.

Model House2724/1 a-c

Rectangular model village spirit house (haus tamburan) on 14 dark brown carved stilts has a basketry and clay mask with Cowrie shell eyes hanging at each end and a fringe of reddish grass along the bottom. Woven grass rope roof and walls with two small square openings in each are supported by an inner bamboo frame and floor boards. Wood house post finials carved in the shape of birds sit atop the roof peaks at each end; (b) stands upright with engraved markings on chest and light brown open wings while the darker (c) bends forward and looks down, scalloped wings with dark brown markings pointing upwards.

Basket2695/13 a-b

Rectangular basket (part a) with lid (part b). The basket a rectangular base, slightly flared sides and rounded handles on each end. The handles are secured to the inside with leather skin ties. Simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with a slat foot and overcast splint rim. The basket has a continuous imbricated design of two bands zigzagging in cat-tail, red and black cherry bark. The lid has a imbricated diamond design with two bands.

Portrait mask. Red, blue and black facial features and tattoo are painted onto the natural wood background. Abalone shell discs and a thin band are glued to the eyes and mouth and a thick coil of red bark rope is attached along the chin line. Long twists of dark hair and tied bundles of painted red bark strips with blue ends drape across the forehead and down the sides.
