Pagoda PropEdz1622

Four-tiered hexagonal representation of a tower that narrows towards the top. Roof areas hang over the edges of each tier, and are painted red with black shingle lines. The tower itself is light blue with painted white brick lines. There are small black coloured arched windows on each side. The paper structure is held together by a long bamboo pole that runs the length of the tower. It is secured to the structure by a split cross-bar at the opening near the bottom.

A small light brown oval basket (part a) with a lid (part b). There are four horizontal rows of blue, red, red, and blue around the middle of the side of the basket (part a), with two horizontal rows of purple around the bottom. The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) has a blue oval centre at the top with blue, red, and blue oval lines around it, and a horizontal purple row around the side of the lid with a horizontal row of red just above.

A small light brown cylindrical basket (part a) with a lid (part b). The design consists of brown geometric shapes around the side, and a row of orange and brown around the top and the bottom of the basket (part a). The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) has a flared upward cylindrical brown and orange knob around which there is a circular brown and orange swirl design. The lid (part b) dips downward toward the centre.

Rectangular basket with vertical sides; two long sides have domed handles as part of the walls. Base is solid and sides are open work with coiled solid bands alternating with bands of open zigzags; Handle are open work and have two arches with zigzags in between them. Solid bands of walls have woven checkerboard decorations at regular intervals.

There are four equally spaced alternating green, and blue geometric designs around the side of the basket (part a), beneath which there are five horizontal rows of purple, green, red, green, and purple around the bottom. The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) dips downward toward the blue, red, and purple circular centre around which stands a long green and blue bird with a green geometric design on the opposite side. There are five horizontal rows of purple, green, red, green, and purple around the side of the lid (part b).

Cantonese Opera Prop1704/8

Decapitated head opera prop. Representation of a human head. Hollow head with bamboo loop sticking out of the top. The bamboo is wrapped in a grey coloured fibre. Head has painted black coloured hair, painted red lips, and painted eyes and eyebrows. Head is open at neck. The inside of the head has strips of bamboo that are tied with fibre and is lined with newspaper (paper mache).

Cantonese Opera Flute1704/16

Cantonese opera prop. The flute has a bone mouthpiece at one end with black stripes and a series of holes down its length. The black stripes consist of a wrapping of thread covered by a black adhesive. Stripes are grouped at each end: fourteen near the mouthpiece and twelve at the opposite end. These sections are separated by two stripes paired in the centre. The holes cover the lower half (away from the mouthpiece) and are spaced between stripes in line. Two holes are on the underside at the opposite ends from the mouthpiece. The flute shaft is blocked by a bamboo joint.

Stringed musical instrument with boat-shaped body, incised and carved with black and beige geometric leaf-like designs. Two wires are strung across the middle portion of the boat shape between two raised pieces. Braided fibre with wooden pick is attached to one end.

Model Boat1438/1 a-b

Rectangular-shaped boat (part a) and sail (part b). Boat base is made up of fourteen long wooden rods that are linked together with grass stitching. On either side of the boat are long and flared rods that are shorter on one end and extend past the length of the boat on the other. They curve upwards to a sharp and tapered point. The mast (part b) is inserted into a square piece in the centre of the boat and attached to it, is a rectangular-shaped, woven grass sail.
