Doll3111/24

Textile doll wearing a yellow dress with horizontal red bands and one band of geometric spiral waves. Upper body has a beige band with brown geometric spirals (waves and step patterns). Hands of three fingers are up and made of a reed grass. Covered with light red dyed camelid threads. Rhomboid eyes with red and white circles in interior, light yellow face, two front red tassels as braids with two yellow knots each. Headdress with vertical bands in light blue, brown, white and black, cream coloured cotton and camelid threads. Interior textile at back of head has bird and geometric decorations, lower body interior has brown cloth with zigzag motif. Upper body has textile made of white wool and gauze.

Tapa Cloth3103/29

Large painted tapa cloth. Design is painted in a grid of 6 rows long by 3.5 rows wide. Almost entire cloth is stamped with dense designs in a reddish brown pigment. Darker designs are painted over that. Lower layer shows light brown wavy and diagonal lines, boxed circles, flowers, etc. Of the more dominant grid patterns, the top band is split in two with a small square of hearts one side and a square formed from triangles on the other; the next band shows designs made from diamonds and flattened triangles; the next shows an oval, formed by two crescent shapes, in between two single crescents with a four pointed star and a diamond on either side. The three bands then repeat again. The rough, frayed edges of the textile are unpainted.

Small squat woven basket. Wide mouth curves out slightly before tapering to flat circular base. Base is decorated with a large imbricated star. Body decorated with three pairs of imbricated diamonds and half diamonds.

Round woven basket with high walls, wide mouth, and small round base. Decoration consists of a row of small and large comb-like patterns under the rim, then two bands of varying shades of brown with a band of triangles in the middle. Base has a circle of darker brown. Dark brown ring around the rim.

Large woven urn shaped basket. Short narrow neck opens out to a large round body, that then tapers to a flat round base. Two loops placed on the same side of basket form small handles. A fibre loop is tied around one handle.

Woven basketry hat. Small concave crown flares out to wide opening. Wide woven hat band sewn into interior. Bands of alternating dark and light brown strands adorn bottom and middle of hat. Crown is light brown and ringed with three light brown circles.

Small woven basket with fitted lid. Round neck. Body flares at the middle then curves back in to meet flat circular base. Decorated with a line of ducks and dashes around middle of body between two sets of three lines at neck and lower part. Lid is decorated with four ducks around a solid circle surrounded by a line. Decorations are a lighter colour on the outside from fading.
