A shadow puppet of a male (laocheng, Emperor's advisor or scholar of the court character) (parts a-b) with a big black eyes, long black eyelashes, and a black beard made of hair. Wearing clothing that is decorated in red, green, and black dragons, and floral print. Wire is coiled around the neck. There is an elaborate red and green headdress (part c) that has a face in profile at the front. Joined in the shoulder, elbow, waist, hips, hands, and fingers with rivets.

Hat with black dome-shaped cotton (?) base that has domed metal ornaments, off-white buttons, and white glass beads sewn to the base. Hanging from the top front are several strands of multicoloured beads, strung seeds, pompoms, tufts of bright red feathers, and off-white and red tufts of hair.

A brown wooden mask with bulbous cheeks and tufts of hair along the top of the head. The eyebrows are painted red, the blue eyes have a hole in their pupils, with another hole below each eye. The red nostrils are cut out, the red mouth is slightly parted and the ears are carved.

Strap1376/2

Very long, narrow, black and grey textile, decorated with many horizontal rows of resist-dyed or painted red disks that are overprinted or stamped with black cross-shaped motifs, like petals of a flower. Sections woven with wool or goat hair yarns alternate with sections woven with cotton yarns. Long black fringes at each end are made by tightly twisting the warp yarns.

Fly Whisk1373/71

Ornamented, gold leaf covered handle with a long tail of horse hair attached to it. Top of handle has a flared, circular knob upon which a carved, golden rooster sits. Hair is bound in red fabric with two bands of green string at the juncture with the handle.

A wooden doll-like figure, attached to a wooden stand by her feet, bending over a seal. The figure stands bent over the animal, almost touching nose to nose. She is carved with black-painted hair in the form of a bun, which is decorated with a beaded string. She wears a light blue coat lined with dark fur with a multicoloured plaid ribbon around the waist; she holds an ulu in her hand. The pants are made of skin with light coloured fur, and the boots are orange leather with white lining at the top decorated with red, blue, green, and yellow squares. The light coloured, furry animal is lying on its back underneath, between her feet. Attached is a red, white, and black circular label which reads "Eskimo Handicraft. Made in Narssaq Greenland".

Brown coloured brush with short light-brown coloured bristles at one end and yellow cording looped through the other end. The brush handle is narrow and widens towards the bristles. There is a black painted band around the perimeter of the brush near the bristles. Japanese characters are near the top of the handle.
