Hair45KT20/1966-95/19

Braided mammal hair with wood. This was found loose in a box, along with other artifacts from 45KT20. There are five braids of dark brown hair and five pieces of wood, along with a piece of hide. Some of the hair is wound around the wood. Tag in box reads "From plastic bag with tag Misc. box #40 Prob KT20". This corresponds with Greengo 4E24 #40, which states, "bones and animal hair(?) that has been braided." Perhaps someone mixed up bone and wood. Jeff Bradley (collections manager of Mammology at the Burke) believes the hair may be human, horse or buffalo, with a lesser possibility that it is bear. The hair resembles hair in 45KT20/31. No mention in Field Catalog Form, Artifact Record Notebooks or Swanson 1962. It has been assigned cat. #45KT20/1966-95/19 by the Burke. K. Kidwell, 03/08/2011
