String Puppet2986/1

Puppet of a male. The body is made of wood, with articulations at the neck, elbows, fingers, hips and knees. The mouth and eyes are also moveable. The puppet is dressed in a fabric costume, with a gold sarong, and red and blue tunic embroidered in white flowers on the torso, and coloured sequence sewn onto cuffs and hem. The puppet’s face is finely carved with protruding features, painted wrinkles, brows and lashes. Human hair has been used for his moustache and hair. Puppeteer’s strings are attached to the head, shoulders, hands and legs of the puppet.

Large headdress consisting of a tall black cone-shaped cardboard hat and semicircular cutout pieces on each side, surrounded by multi-coloured streamers. The mask is part of a costume that also includes a white shirt (2956/200 b), a red skirt (2956/200 c), a white apron (2956/200 d), a red sash (2956/200 e), a mask (2956/200 a), and two bells (2956/200 f-g).

Horse Whip3029/5

Short horse whip (riding crop) made of tightly woven dark horse hair, covering an inner structure of cotton. The butt is small with an open wrist thong protruding from the top. The handle is thick, decorated with chevron and diamond shapes in red and black. Below a small ring, the flexible thong narrows toward the end, decorated in short, flowing red lines, with a solid black tip.
