A large wood figure with wings outstretched. The circular eyes are drilled into a deep hollow hole. Upraised eyebrows with three white circles in a row. Two horn-like pieces carved into a curve around the sides of the face. Flowing hair down the sides and for the beard as well. Hairy moustache. Four white teeth and a wood tongue. Top of head decorated with shells. Rope belt has shells on it. Carved wood skirt with vertical grooved lines of white. Short wood feet with shell and plant fibre anklets.

Saddlebag1358/1

A saddlebag constructed from a long continuous length of off-white striped wool canvas, which is folded and seamed onto itself at each end to form a pair of bags of equal size (panniers). The fronts of both bags, as well as the “bridge” that separates the two bags, are decorated with large rectangular panels of very finely knotted pile weaving that is worked on the canvas. The piece is tightly woven and quite stiff. The design motifs on the pile woven sections is consisting of octagonal and other geometric forms with shades of red, and brown predominating. The outside edges of the saddle bag are bound with braided brown goat or camel hair and the opening of each bag is finished with dense loops of braided goat or camel hair. There are colourful tassels at the corners and on the back of one bag, a length of brown cotton twill tape is attached.

A long cylindrical skin handle with circular protrusions all around that have some plant fibre weaving decoration. The top end of the handle has a looped skin band painted with red dots connected by a brown zig zag line. The bottom end of the handle flares out with skin strands from which grey hair flows down.

Rod Puppet1189/1 a-c

A gold-coloured puppet with an upper body (part b) and a head carved with a headpiece (part a) attached together by a stick (part c). The shoulders can rotate and the elbows can bend. Marionnette sticks attached through the hands. Face is orange brown with red eyes and mouth with white teeth. Black hair, moustache, and beard. Large ears. Big headdress is red and gold-coloured. Black fabric upper garment outlined with gold zig zag ribbon, sequins, and beads with beaded star in centre is just above the belly. Black belt embroidered with red and yellow flowers including green leaves. Arms carved with red arm bands and red wrist bracelets. Skirt is a dark brown and white spotted floral design on a reddish-brown and cream-coloured patterned background.

Mask1373/38

Oval-shaped mask with a slightly wider head. Head of mask is decorated with carved grooves and geometric designs. Forehead has six slightly raised bumps in the centre and a raised U-shaped design lower down on the forehead. Ears are located just above the eyes to the side of the mask. Eyes are crescent-shaped cut-outs, nose is raised and slightly rounded at the tip, and has two holes for nostrils. The mouth is rectangular-shaped with rounded edges. On either side of the mask on the cheek and chin there are a series of three raised lines. Around the perimeter of the piece from the chin to the ears are punctured holes with fibre threaded through them. The rim on the back of the mask is lined with skin backing.

Stringed Musical Instrument734/7 a-b

An instrument formed of a hollow cylindrical wooden drum covered with skin, with a stick running through it, the far end of which has red-brown and light brown hair attached. A small stick which tapers down and has fibre wrapped around near the tapered end goes through the hair end of the sick. The string is broken.

A large brown wood mask with lots of extremely long hair on string flowing down. The round red eyes bulge out with slits carved out underneath. The big wide nose has its nostrils cut out. The big open red mouth has long white teeth with four fangs curved outward to the sides at either ends. There is an elaborate crown headdress with three protrusions curved outward. The large ears are attached to the sides with string and are decorated with red curved lines and the lobes are pierced with gold conical earrings. The tongue is a long piece which falls out down from the mask and is made of red skin decorated with glass mirrors and gold ornaments. Two long orange fabric strips hang down either sides.

The tongue is a long piece which falls out down from the mask and is made of red skin decorated with glass mirrors and gold ornaments.

A large light beige mask with lots of long brown hair and dark brown hair on its upraised black eyebrows. White yarn is on the inner section of the sides of the hair. The big eyes outlined with red are cut out and so are the nostrils which have black-painted hair which is also done around the mouth. The lower jaw is attached at the back. The lips are red, gold, and black. The gums are orange. The teeth are white with four large fangs accented with bleack lines. Black protrusions on the sides of the mask have horizontal curved white lines. Gold pointed protrusions are next to the eyes and white yarn. The large ears have holes in the lobes. The lower right fang is missing.
