Wooden mask adorned with cedar bark fringe at back that extends down past the bottom of the mask. Face is carved forward with a strong downward slant. There are two deeply carved ridges running from nose to temples that are accentuated with black lines. There are heavy black brows at the top of the face, a scalloped design in black below the cheeks, a dark yellow hooked nose with red nostrils, pursed protruding red lips, and a slightly pointed chin with a short horse hair beard. A feather with a long shaft protrudes upwards from one side and there is a bunch of white, grey and grey-brown feathers attached to a pointed piece of wood with adhesive fabric tape (b) and inserted into a hole in the top of the mask. The edge of the mask on the sides of the face and chin is painted brown.

Doll1057/9

The body of a doll (see records for 1057/13 & 15 for the two doll heads shown in the images). The skin is painted pink. Wearing a top and a pair of pants that are orange. The top is embroidered with a green urn-like shape among metallic orange and gold-coloured shapes. Fur decorates the edge of the top along the bottom. The pants are embroidered with a red and gold-coloured floral pattern. The shoes are made of red fabric.

Apron1485/16

Apron composed of woven fibre with two neck straps that have brown tufts of fur at the ends, and a fringe composed of strips of woven fibre with brown fur and longer brown and black hair attached at the ends as well as chains of braided rings made of bamboo strips(?) and brown grass(?). There are tufts of reddish-brown fur at the top of each chain, and the apron is decorated with red, blue and white pigment.

White, conical straw hat with dyed red horse hair cascading from the apex in all directions. Metal finial with a large blue bead at top of hat; attached to the side of the finial's metal holder is a long tassel of coarse black bristles with peacock feathers, stemming from a carved red and white rectangular bead. Orators StoolIe499

Carved, wood stool consisting of a standing figure on a base with bent knees and arms extending parallel to body. Palms facing inside body. The large, oval shaped face is fringed with cassowary feathers and elaborately painted brown, black and white. Framing the face is inlaid with small cowrie shells. The face has circular-like shapes encompassing the large protruding eyes inlaid with shells. The nose is long, narrow and slightly projects at the tip. On the cheeks are triangular tattoo-like incisions. The mouth is open with the tongue protruding out. The chest is incised with geometric designs and a large rectangular carved pendant in the middle. Around the waist is a woven cord loincloth covering the prominent genital area. Attached to the lower back of the figure is semi-circular stool with a small mask on lower part of leg. The face is incised with lines and has protruding eyes, nose and tongue. The body of the figure is covered in black, charcoal ? pigment.

Apron1176/8 d

Gold-coloured apron made from a thick, stiff material. Front section has three separate v-shaped panels, one within the other. Pointed petal design with intricate, scrolling cutwork; red cotton backing shows through cut-outs. Two side panels are scroll-shaped. All pieces have circular and drop-shaped mirror insets. Side pieces and two lower front pieces are fringed along the outer edge with black hair. Apron is secured at the back with long string ties.

Carved wood mask consisting of a head with an elongated brow; a long nose, mouth and chin. The top of the head is decorated with cassowary feathers and a small tuft of human hair. The face is elaborately detailed with dark blue, light blue and brown stylized designs on a white ground. There is a long, cylindrical shaped piece of wood that stretches from the bottom of the nose to the bottom of the mask; on the end is a small carved bird. The forehead and the side of the face are inlaid with rows of small shells; the eyes and sections of the forehead are detailed with inlaid cowrie shells. The nose has boar tusk on either side. The lower sides and bottom are lined with small bundles of sennit fibre. The bottom tip and the sides have bundles of black feathers.

Part b is a smaller piece of white-blue coloured cloth that has internal stuffing, is stitched to matted hair, and has a patterned strap attached to one end.
