Cardboard folder (a) encloses five (b-g) thin cardboards, numbered, 'Papers of the World' supplementary sheets, each has six labelled square samples in two horizontal rows of 3. Samples on No. 1 (b) are from China, all are white or near white except centre bottom (1-5) which is light white-brown. All have closely spaced horizontal and some have wider vertical watermark pattern. 1-1, 1-2 and 1-5 are wrinkled. Sheet is creased at bottom and left and along top left to centre. Samples on No. 2 (c) are all from China, 2-1 is near white, lined watermark, diagonally creased; 2-2 to 2-4 are light white/brown, darker fibres and lined watermark; 2-5 is pink with swirls of various densities and colour; 2-6 is white, lined watermark and darker fibres. Slight crease at bottom left of sheet. Samples on No. 3 (d) are from Korea, 3-1 is white and fibrous, 3-2 is thin, light white/brown; 3-3 is near white, 3-4 is light white/brown with numerous darker flecks and flakes; 3-5 is blue on top surface with green hair-like fibres; 3-6 is light white/brown with fibres. Samples on No. 4 (e) are from South and Southeast Asia, 4-1 is light white/brown with darker fibres and a plain-weave-like watermark; 4-2 is light white/brown with dark flecks, thin; 4-3 is slightly darker; is stiff, brown with dark flecks and watermark lines; 4-5 is white with some dark specks; 4-6 is stiff white/brown with horizontal lines and darker flecks. Samples on No. 5 (f) are from India and Europe; 5-1 is stiff, near white with horizontal ribbed lines; 5-2 is brown with darker flecks and lined watermark; 5-3 is light white/brown with numerous darker flecks; 5-4 is dark grey with horizontal lined watermark; 5-5 is near white with imbedded leaves and plant material; 5-6 is stiff light yellow/white with pebble surface. Samples on No. 6 (g) are from Italy and England, 6-1 is light grey, slightly ribbed horizontally with ragged right edge; 6-2 is light is light white/yellow; 6-3 is near white, pebbled; 6-4 is white card.
Stiff, rectangular, blue, horizontally crinkled paper folder enclosing washi paper samples; printed black and red on off-white label on front in Japanese and English, listing samples. White-brown inside with same horizontally crinkled texture. Folder has box-like shape with three half-sized flaps at top, bottom and left, and a full-sized cover flap opening overtop from left to right.
Rectangular book with crinkled paper covers; pages have folded edges to outside; free edges and cover are bound in the Japanese style with yellow thread through four holes. Cloth reinforcements at bound corners. White label printed in black and red Japanese characters on front cover for Japanese text (opening from left). Inside covers red-brown and white scalloped 'lacy' paper on Japanese text side. Opened on right reveals English text.
Closing fan (c) in wooden box (a) with lid (b). Box has nine (? ) Chinese characters in black ink; lid has sixteen characters; one character at each end of box and lid. Box made of unfinished light brown wood. Fan has eight split bamboo inner ribs and two carved bamboo parent ribs. Fan face of paper has gold background with tree scene of brown, blue and green with two white birds.

Covered on both sides with ecru-coloured paper printed on one side with scene of snow-covered mountain, green and yellow mountainside, and black trees. Inscription of nine Chinese characters in black, with two-character red seal.
A closing fan with eleven inner ribs of split bamboo and two bamboo parent ribs. Fan face is of white paper front, and back, edged with silver paper on the top, and painted with a design of shamrocks and grass with two red seals, and a menu for August 20, 1924 in French. Fastened with a brass rivet which is broken. Design is in black, grey, green, and silver.
A closing fan with thirteen inner ribs of split bamboo and two bamboo parent ribs. Fan is covered with white paper on one side while white gauze-covered paper is on the other side. On the latter side, there is painted a plum(?) branch, thirteen writing characters, and three seals in red. Painting is all in black.
A closing fan with twenty-three inner ribs of split bamboo each with a butterfly(?) design burned on the base of each side and two parent ribs of bamboo each with a burned design. Each parent rib is set into a dark rosewood piece through which the brass rivet passes. Fan has light brown paper on one side only, on which a dinner menu in French is printed for June 10, 1929. Attached to the rivet, there is a knotted white silk cord, 17.5 cm. long, on which is strung an orange glass bead (red jade?). At each end of this, there is a knotted flat tassel of braided white cotton bound with gold coloured metallic thread.
An elongated face mask with carved extensions from the top and the bottom. The forehead is raised. The face recedes sharply. The eyes are set upon the facial surface and are oblong with dark centres, looking straight ahead. The nose flares. The mouth is oblong with a surrounding raised area. The chin is raised from the facial surface.
Folding fan with thirty-eight inner ribs of split bamboo and two aluminum parent ribs. Covered with silver/white paper on both sides, one side having an irregular green stripe along lower edge of paper, with light green and white squares enclosing dots, and other side having the same along the upper edge of the edge of the paper. White plastic rivet through which is threaded a grey/green silk cord 18cm long (double), knotted, on which is threaded a green plastic bead.
