The Sage and His Servant3313/1

Traditional Chinese style scroll painting. Long, vertical scroll with an ink painting on rice paper depicting a servant standing and holding an umbrella, and an elderly man riding a horse next to a river. In the background, there is a large weeping tree. Along the lower left edge is the artist name in two Chinese characters, and in English, and her small red seal. The painting is mounted on a long piece of silk fronted paper, in a light cream colour. A small strip of wood lines the top of the work, with a plaited silk hanging string attached and two ties. A large decorative wooden dowel is attached at bottom.

Tunic3312/1

Woven tunic (cushma) with hand-drawn geometric design. The tunic is composed of two long, rectangular panels folded in half, and then stitched together on the sides. There is an opening at the top for a head, and on the sides for arms. Down both sides, bands composed of thin vertical stripes of orange, blue, yellow, pink and light blue. Down the centre, are two bands, on either side of the stitching, composed of wide green stripes and thin lines of various colours.

Wildmans Red Cedarbark Mask Dance3278/2

Painting on paper. Five figures, all wearing large masks with long snouts and slightly open mouths, coloured black, red, green and yellow. Long capes of orange and yellow cedar bark fall from each mask, obscuring the figures beneath. The two front-most figures have yellow legs emerging from the cedar, with leg bands wrapped around their calves. Light yellow background.

Moccasins3204/15 a-b

Pair of beaded calf-height moccasins. Upper portion is made of thin leather, open at front, and can be wrapped around the calf and tied by long leather strings threaded around the ankle, emerging to either side of a narrow tongue. Yellow flowers with blue stems and green leaves are beaded around the calf, with a line of blue and red or yellow beads surrounding three edges of the calf flap. Toe comes to a point, and is heavily beaded in a wedge pattern of squares in white, blue, red, and yellow. An ink pattern guide can be seen around the toe stitching on both shoes. Both have hard leather soles.
