Low relief design of landscape with monkeys in mountain caves at bottom on face, and one monkey in a mountain cave with only head and arm showing on reverse. Copper and gold inlaid elements ? in design. Signed on seppa dai; open kodzuka and kogai.
Oval-shaped sword guard with dark brown patina, four-lobed edge and raised rim. Triangular hole at centre with a three-lobed hole to one side, and an ovoid hole to the other side. One face has a low relief design of a prunus tree with blooms, and the reverse has a prunus tree with scattered bamboo leaves. Some gold overlay. The design includes an open area where the tree branches appear to pass through the hole. Nakago ana adjusted by chiselling and metal inserts; kodzuka and kogai open.
Circular, metal sword guard with triangular hole at centre, ovoid hole to one side, and three-lobed hole to other side. Low relief openwork design depicting a man holding a pike, with copper face inlaid and robe patterned with gold overlaid in zigzags, waves, pinetrees, mountain forms overlaid with gold lines, and a pagoda which is similarly overlaid. The reverse displays back views of all of the motifs seen on the front, and characters are incised on the back of the seppa dai. Nakago ana adjusted with metal inserts. Open kodzuka and kogai. Characters incised on seppa dai.
Oval metal sword guard. Guard is smooth and has a patina; polished shakudo seppa dai; open kodzuka and kogai. Front: man in sunken relief sitting right centre under a tree. He has face of inlaid copper, hat, sleeve, and knee of overlaid gold. He is reaching toward head of a writhing fish-dragon gazing up at him. The fish dragon's body is coiled and reappears at the top of the guard. Back: incised cloud forms with touches of gold overlay.
Four-lobed form with irregularly hammered background. Has an overall patina; nakago ana has chiseling and copper insert for adjustment to the blade; open kodzuka, no kogai. Front: at bottom in high relief a leopard looks upward to a bamboo in low relief growing up the right side and across the top; leaves overlaid with gold. Back: at bottom centre, several broad curved gouges and a series of dots suggest leopard's claw and pad marks; two gold and copper spots inlaid.
Hook (part c) attached at the end of a long pole (a). Pole is an elongated tube; one end is closed with an iron ring attached through a hole; a three dimensional iron fish is attached by a chain to a protruding, curved piece of iron attached at the open, bottom end of the pole. An iron rod (part b) projects from the bottom, open end of the tube, impaling the metal fish through the head; an iron hook (c) is suspended from a knob at the end of the rod (b).
Iron axe head, attached to a dark brown wooden handle. Designs on the handle include the repetition of spirals, circles, and ellipses. Design on the lower portion consists of two ellipses, one above the other, on each side, joining at each end on a downward pointing curve while having tiny triangles within. Design on the upper portion of the handle consists of four vertical rows of tiny triangles with plain vertical lines in between and sectioned off horizontally in three sections by the following from bottom to top: a continuous horizontal band that has tiny triangles within; a triple outlined oval that has tiny triangles within; and a triple discontinuous horrizontal band. Above, there is a downward curving design with a circle at the centre. Handle is slim and slightly tapered towards the base.
