Snuff BottleN1.159 a-c

A small red lacquer snuff bottle (part a) in a flattened circular shape. The high relief carving on both sides shows a landscape scene with two scholars. One side has both scholars with their arms folded (one scholar is holding a fan), and both turning away from each other. The other side has one scholar with his arms folded turning away from the other who appears to be entreating (?) to him. There is a stopper (part b) made of green jade stone. The wood stand (part c) has the shape of an oval, and has four legs.

Black characters are writtien at the bottom right corner with a red seal below. The scene is bordered along the top and the bottom by dark maroon-red ribbons. The top has a hanging loop. The rod weight is made of ivory.
