The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Manioc strainer and press. Long, thin, basketry tube. Loop handles at both ends. Tied at ends with jute string and cotton string.
Large woven bag. Bag has 2 shoulder straps, and a third larger handle. Front is decorated with bunches of thin braided tassels hanging from bands of alternating brown and yellow triangles. No decoration on back.
Nose piece (Bipane) partially wrapped in a piece of sago leaf. The two shells of a clam are carved into swirls, tied together with plant fibre through a small hole in each piece and glued with beeswax. The outside shells are a light tan with dark brown striations. The underside (front) is a light grey and contains many thin scratches. The piece has a section of dried sago leaf attached to it, with the base of the leaf on the outside and the fraying fronds over the underside.
Rattle made of strands of plant material curved to form a handle, and then widening to form the bodies of two joined rattles. The same material is wrapped around the handle, and around itself at the base of the handle in order to hold the twin rattles firmly together. Intertwined between the strands on the rattles are strips of leaf (coconut?) in an open weave. Large round pieces of gourd form the base of each rattle. Inside are small white seeds that make a sharp noise when the object is shaken.
