Hat3531/4 a-b

Woven palm leaf hat, fedora-style (part a), with a decorative belt (part b). Hat has a moderately wide brim and crown with a pinched front and back. There are three holes on each side, between the pinched sections, lined with metal. A green plastic ribbon wraps around the base. It has an alternating square motif, consisting of solid green squares and checkered ones with floral motifs in the centre. Separate red leather belt rests around hat base, covering the ribbon. Belt is decorated with columns of holes, lined with metal, along its length; entire belt wrapped in a dark blue wool.

Model Canoe3274/72 a-i

Model inter-island sailing canoe, with single-hull outrigger. Main hull is carved of a single piece of wood with attached forked end pieces at fore and aft. Hull is panted black with areas near top decoratively left unpainted. Several benches span the interior of the vessel. Detailed wood rigging with intricate, twisted cordage attaches main boat to outrigger float. A woven triangular sail is suspended between two posts, with a third attached by cordage, and can be balanced upright above the main hull. A large plant fibre tassel hangs from the top point. Part b is a 'canoe lee platform' meant to hang off the opposite side from the outrigger. Parts c-d are very small removable benches that fit into spaces at the fore and aft of the main hull. Part e is a rudder; parts f-g are leaf-shaped blade model paddles; part h is a model steering paddle; part i is a smaller model paddle with a leaf-shaped blade (its wood matches that of the platform).

Cloth3321/6

Rectangular cloth with beige plain weave fabric and cut-pile(?) embroidered geometric designs. The pattern is hexagonal or honeycomb-like, with each hexagon form filled with concentric shapes, and a centre that is either deep red or golden orange colour. The hexagons are outlined and divided by a dark brownish-grey line. Long fringe is knotted around entire cloth in alternating sections of dark brown and yellow-brown fibres. Two large safety pins are attached along one short end on the backside of the cloth.
