Beaded circular hand bag with a dark brown-black velvet front and soft leather handles and fringe. A long fringe is attached all along the bottom and sides of the lower half of the bag. The beadwork on the front is a floral pattern with four flowers and leaves encircling a large flower in the centre. The interior of the bag is lined with light green twill and contains a pocket with a plastic zipper.
Small altar containing three dimensional figures representing the nativity. The exterior of the object is painted yellow-white. The side walls and top of the altar are bordered with dark blue. On each side of the altar, there are successive rows of yellow and pink dots over top the yellow-white background. The door of the object is attached to the altar with two pieces of leather that serve as hinges. There is a flower painted on the front of the door. It has pink, blue and green petals. Above the door, there is a triangular piece of wood attached to the front of the roof, giving the façade a triangular roofline. On the inside of the door, there is a pink flower with green leaves. Inside the altar, the back and side walls are painted dark blue. There are gold stars in the sky. At the back of the scene within the altar, two haloed figures stand in either corner. On the left side, the figure is a man who holds a staff in his left hand. In the right corner, the figure is a woman who has her hands clasped in prayer. Both of the figures look upon baby Jesus, who lies on a circular crib between them. The crib is yellow and has a crimped edge that is painted pink and gold. In front of baby Jesus, on the left side, there is a kneeling angel with yellow wings and a red cloak. She has her hands clasped in prayer. Opposite the angel, on the right side, there is a man in a brown hat and jacket; he plays a flute-like instrument. There are two sheep lying in front of the baby. One of them reclines on all fours. The other stands as if he is sniffing the baby. Both of the animals sit upon green mounds. There is a piece of tape stuck to the back of the object with a number written on it in blue pen.
Portable retablo containing three-dimensional figures representing Saint Cristobal and others. The altar is made of wood with fresco painted over top. The exterior walls of the altar are painted yellow-white or yellow with red borders. On the side walls, there are grey curlicues painted over the yellow-white background. The top of the altar is painted yellow with red stripes. Along the front edge, there is a triangular piece of wood attached to the top of the altar. It is painted yellow with red accents. Below, the front doors of the altar are painted pink with red curlicues over top. There are two pieces of ribbon threaded through two holes in each door. The ribbons are striped with red and white. The interior of the doors are painted with black flowers that have red and yellow centres. Saint Cristobal stands against the back wall inside the altar. He wears a yellow robe, red cape and holds a large green leaf in his hands. He has a halo, long black hair and a beard. A haloed child sits on his right shoulder with a blue ball in his right hand. Below, there are smaller figures of people and animals. The interior walls are painted yellow-white with red, black and yellow spots. Signed on the back in black paint. Also, the title of the work, location, date and a number are written in black ink.
Wooden painted carving of two oxen yoked together; part of a "San Isidro Labrador" set. Both oxen are painted black with brown eyes, dark brown horns and hooves, and have a thick ridge of muscle running around their necks. The ox on the left of the image gazes forward and has its mouth open. Its tongue extends out of its mouth to lick its nose; its mouth and nostrils are painted pink. The left ox has its tail bent and resting on top of its back. The ox on the right has white patches on its black fur, including a triangular white patch on its forehead and a line of white hair along its spine. This ox has its head tilted to the right and its mouth is closed, and its tail down. The oxen are yoked by a piece of wood which rests on the front of their shoulders. Over each torso the yoke is curved to fit the bodies and is affixed with leather rope which wraps around the left ox’s neck twice and the right ox’s neck three times. Hanging down from the yoke and attached by a piece of string, there is a long cylindrical piece of wood that extends in between the oxen bodies and further back. There is a square hole through the end of the piece. The oxen stand on a square base that is painted green-blue. Part b is a rectanglular piece with a triangular point at one end and a smaller rectangle cut out of the other end. Part c has a horizontal portion at one end which meets the remainder of the piece at a right angle. Upwards from this right angle, another portion of the object branches off at a more acute angle. There is a small hole through the object at one end.
Small portable altar containing a figure of Saint Anthony holding baby Jesus. The altar itself is a small box painted blue on the left and right sides and the floor of the altar. On the right side of the altar, the wall is affixed using two pieces of leather each with four nails in them. At the front of the altar, there is an arched opening revealing the two figures inside. Above the arch, the front wall extends into a triangular roofline. It is painted yellow with dark green, dark blue and brown detailing. On either side the doorway is flanked by flat columns that are topped by triangles. Thus the roofline has three peaks. The columns are painted yellow-white with red, pink, dark green and dark blue detailing. The interior walls of the altar are also painted yellow-white. Saint Anthony is standing upon a ceramic plinth that is painted white, blue and red. The plinth resembles a mushroom in shape. The figures of Saint Anthony and baby Jesus appear to be made out of plastic. In addition to the plinth, Saint Anthony stands upon a small piece of blue ground. He wears brown sandals and a brown robe. He has short, light brown hair and rosy cheeks. Baby Jesus is swathed in a white blanket that has a cluster of brown spots near the upper right side. Baby Jesus has black eyes, rosy cheeks and red lips. On the top side of the object, near the back, there is a metal eye hook for hanging the object. The back of the object is yellow white and has the artist’s name written on it in blue pen. There is also a number written in red pen.
Portable altar containing three dimensional figures of Saint Isidore the Laborer and two yoked bulls. The top and side walls of the altar are painted blue. There is an arched opening in the façade of the altar. It has a yellow border. There is a sheet of glass in the opening so that the figures inside are protected. On either side of the archway, there are blue pilasters with gold capitals. There is also a dark blue archivolt lining the archway. The roof above the arch is triangular. It is painted pink with gold accents. There is a flower-shaped finial at the apex of the arch; it is pink with blue leaves. On either side of the central triangle, there are two smaller triangles completing the roofline. They have the same finials as the central triangle. The wall below the finials is painted yellow-white with pink accents. Where the left and right sides of the front of the object border the pilasters, they are painted green with red stripes. Inside the altar, the figure of Saint Isidore stands atop a cube plinth that is painted yellow-white with blue designs over top. Saint Isidore wears black boots, a green robe with gold trim and has a brown beard and long hair. He holds a red book with black text on the cover. Left of Saint Isidore, there are two small bulls painted yellow-white with black spots and red tongues. There is a gold yoke between them. The bulls stand atop a low, square plinth of unpainted wood. The artist’s name is written on the back of the object in blue pen. Also, a location is written in pencil and a number is written in red pen.
Small altar with nativity scene inside. The exterior of the altar is painted yellow-white with red borders. On the top and sides of the altar, there are green wavy lines painted between the red borders. There are two pieces of leather nailed to each side of the altar and to the sides of the doors, as hinges. The exterior of the doors are painted with one half of a flower each and with blue vines emerging from its sides. Above the opening of the altar, there is a triangular piece of wood affixed, creating a peaked roofline on the façade, painted yellow with a green half-sun motif. Each of the interior doors is decorated with a two-petal flower. Inside the altar, the side walls are painted dark blue and the back wall is painted yellow with silver stars. Standing against the background are Mary and Joseph, bothey both wearing gold crowns and gesturing to Jesus in his cradle in front of them. The baby is naked and his cradle is red. Also in the background, right of Mary, a person in a red robe stands with their hands clasped in prayer. Left and in front of Joseph, there is an angel that holds a gold horn to his mouth. Left and in front a man in a blue shirt kneels and prays as he looks upon the baby. Right and in front of baby Jesus, a man wearing a gold cap, blue cape and yellow robe kneels and prays, as well as a grey animal with pointed ears that crouches and clasps his front hooves in prayer. In front of the angel, a man wearing a gold cap, red cape and yellow robe kneels and prays and to his right is a boy with black hair and a red cape praying. A woman to the right faces the child while she kneels and prays. Right of the woman, and in front of the praying animal, there is a patch of yellow grass in which a yellow-white bird stands. In front of the man in the gold cap on the left side of the altar, there is a goat standing left of a yellow-white, four-legged animal and a small brown camel to its right, and than a sheep, and a striped llama(?). A grey donkey with a satchel on his back stands right of the llama. In the foreground on the left side of the scene, there is an orange and black striped animal, a pink and black bird and a brown spotted dog. In the furthest right position in the foreground, there is a small brown and black four-legged animal. There is indecipherable writing in orange pen on the back of the object. On the bottom of the object, the wood is unpainted.
Altar containing three-dimensional figures set upon two tiers depicting heaven and earth. The exterior of the altar is painted yellow-white with red borders. On the top of the altar, a blue curlicue design is painted over top the yellow-white background. There are also curlicue designs on the sides but they are red. The doors of the altar are attached with two pieces of leather nailed to each side. The exterior of the doors are painted with a large flower that is split in half by the doors. The centre of the flower is yellow with a red cross-hatched design over top. Around the centre, there is a ring of small, pink flower petals. There are also grey, blue and purple petals. Above the doors, there is a triangular piece of wood attached to the façade. The triangular piece is painted yellow with a red border and a red flower. Each of the interior doors is painted with a flower; they are grey, red and blue with yellow centres. The figures within the altar are made out of plastic. In the top tier against the back wall, there are three haloed figures holding quills and books. In front of these figures, there are a variety of smaller people. Many of them are holding instruments. There are also small figures of goats, rams, owls and other four-legged animals. The background is painted yellow-white with red, grey, yellow and blue spots over top. In the lower tier, there are four figures attached to the back wall; they carry out various everyday tasks. Below, there are smaller people playing instruments, carrying babies and caring for animals. There is also a tall yellow and red table with a pitcher, a cup, a bottle and a round fruit atop it. The animal figures appear to be dogs, cats and birds. On the back of the object, there is a number written in red pen. Also, there is a piece of tape with a number written on it in blue pen.
Portable altar containing a three-dimensional figure of Saint James. The exterior walls, back of the roof and base of the altar are painted blue. The front of the altar has an elaborate façade. In the centre of the façade, there is an archway that reveals the figure inside. The top of the arch has a scalloped edge. The dome is painted yellow with red and blue detailing. At the top of the dome, there is a pink flower with gold accents and green leaves. On either side of the archway, there is a narrow vertical wall with a column embedded in it. The shaft of the column curves inwards at its centre. It is painted yellow-white with black curved lines over top. Behind the columns, the walls are green. Above the columns, the walls are painted yellow-white. Directly above the square capitals, there are red designs painted over top the yellow-white background. The interior walls and ceiling of the altar have a pink diamond pattern painted over a yellow-white background. In the middle of each diamond, there is a yellow dot. The figure of Saint James stands atop a plinth formed by three-stacked shapes. He wears black sandals, a yellow robe, a dark blue cape and a white hat. He has a brown beard, mustache and hair. In his left hand he holds a silver-coloured sword; his right holds a staff with a black handle and two gold balls hanging from it. The back of the altar is painted yellow-white. The artist’s name, location and some numbers are written in pencil on the back. There are also two stickers with numbers and words.
Portable altar with a three-dimensional depiction of peasants in love. The exterior walls of the altar are painted yellow-white with red borders. On the left, right and top sides of the altar, there are purple leaves painted over the background. The doors of the object are attached with two pieces of leather per side; the leather pieces serve as hinges. There is a large painted flower split between the two doors. The centre of the flower is a grey base with red cross-hatching over top. Above the doors, there is a triangular piece of wood attached to the façade to create a peaked roofline. The design on the triangular piece of wood is faded but a cross-hatched flower centre remains visible. There is a flower painted on the interior of each door. They are grey, purple and red with cross-hatched centres. There are three vultures flying above the three-dimensional scene inside the altar. Two of them are attached to the top wall and the other is attached high on the left wall. The vultures are black with red beaks and red plumes atop their heads. One of the vultures has a black lamb in its talons. There are faint clouds and mountains painted on the back wall of the altar. The ground has hills and valleys formed from clay. On the left side of the object, a brown and black striped donkey sits atop a hill. In the foreground in front of the donkey, there is a cave under which two small animals sit. On the right side of the altar, there is a tall hill on which three birds are perched. There are many animals sitting and standing within the scene; there are lambs, bulls, rams and donkeys. Near the middle of the scene, towards the background, one animal rests atop another animal’s back. Behind these two, there is a man and a woman. The woman, on the left, has a grey hat, two black braids and a pink skirt. Her hands are upraised as if she is dancing. Her partner stands to the right; he wears a red coat, grey hat and plays a guitar. There is another couple right of the musical one. The woman is lying with her back on the ground and one of her legs revealed. Her lover wears a red coat and black pants and is stooped over her. The artist’s name and location are written on the back of the work in blue paint.
