Spear Thrower1366/4

Oblong spear thrower that is curved along length and has pointed ends. One end has a ball of resin around it and a leather thong wrapped three times around it forming a loop for hanging; other end has a wooden point attached with tightly wound grass; point is oriented toward the other end. An adhesive label is in the concave surface.

A wooden doll-like figure, attached to a wooden stand by her feet, bending over a seal. The figure stands bent over the animal, almost touching nose to nose. She is carved with black-painted hair in the form of a bun, which is decorated with a beaded string. She wears a light blue coat lined with dark fur with a multicoloured plaid ribbon around the waist; she holds an ulu in her hand. The pants are made of skin with light coloured fur, and the boots are orange leather with white lining at the top decorated with red, blue, green, and yellow squares. The light coloured, furry animal is lying on its back underneath, between her feet. Attached is a red, white, and black circular label which reads "Eskimo Handicraft. Made in Narssaq Greenland".
