Bamboo and wood spear. A narrow, concave head of bamboo is bound to a narrow wooden shaft with string and beeswax. The shaft has been carved into patterns highlighted with lime. This is inserted into a thicker shaft of bamboo, secured with rattan and beeswax. There are natural ruddy-brown striations along the shaft.

Long wood and bamboo spear. The long, carved wooden head contains three sections of encircling lines, equidistant from each other, with remnants of lime in the crevices. The head is inserted into a bamboo shaft and bound with woven rattan and beeswax. A thin line has been scratched around the shaft near both the join and the butt. The bamboo’s nodules have been shaved smooth.

Arrow has a concave bamboo head, dyed on the interior and bound to a narrow wooden upper shaft with string and wax. This is decorated with carved, repeating patterns emphasized with lime. It is inserted into a slightly larger bamboo shaft and secured with rattan and beeswax. This lower shaft has been shaved towards the join and a few thin lines have been scratched around it and near the butt. A few lines have been shaved down the bamboo shaft forming long Vs and Xs.

This is inserted into a slightly larger bamboo shaft and secured with rattan and beeswax. Both of these binds show traces of lime. The shaft has been thinly shaved towards the join and a few thin lines have been scratched around the shaft just below this. The nodules have been shaved smooth.

Wood and bamboo spear. The long wooden head has been carved with five pairs of perpendicular barbs and a long encircling line, filled with lime. This is inserted into a bamboo shaft and bound with woven rattan and beeswax. The shaft has been shaved towards the join and a few thin lines have been scratched just below. Near the shaft bottom are remnants of a bright blue fibre or dye.

Long spear with carved bone head. The edges of the head have four barbs each, staggered, along the sides. Head is bound to a narrow wooden shaft with string and wax. The convex side has remnants of a light green dye over the middle half of the head. The wooden shaft is carved into diagonal patterns filled with lime. Penis Sheath2948/111

Penis sheath is a crescent-shaped bottle gourd with a 2cm band of woven rattan fibre clasped around the thick end and a thin bast string attached to the band. Remnants of lime remain on the band and string. The small end is sealed.

Ceremonial Costume2948/17

Costume made of thick woven plant fibre. A square skirt is attached to a hood, featuring raised vertical stripes painted with ochre and lime. The hood has a woven and painted swirl on each side above three short horizontal stripes. A nose protrudes from the hood with large, rectangular gaps for the eyes and mouth. Round ears sit on both sides of the hood, and two loops are attached at back. At the base of the head arms are attached that would cover the top or outside of the wearer`s arms, with cuffs that have long strands of sago leaf sprouting from them. Sago strands also hang from below the skirt. At the base of the body is a string appendage representing a phallus.
