Gold brooch of a killer whale. Head is large, body relatively small, with a large front flipper and tail flukes. Dorsal fin angles slightly back. Abalone inlays are used for teeth, large eye, a strip down the back, and ovoids on each fin and tail. The back has a brooch pin running from the nose to the fin. HAIDA ART / Reid inscription on back.
Gold rectangular brooch with dogfish face design. Somewhat square, front-on face of animal stares out from centre of brooch, tongue lolling between sharp pointed teeth under a prominent nose with curling nostrils. Eyes are oval, and ears are squared at top. Ovoid shapes are placed around the border at the four corners of the brooch. Stick pin on upper back. HAIDA ART / Reid inscription on back.
Robe is a vibrant pink, with long wide sleeves, and short water sleeves falling from each wrist. Collar stands upright, with lapel crossing over chest to tie at right side of torso under the arm. Decoration is thread embroidered flowers and foliage in dark green and blue embellished with translucent beads, applied around each wrist, on chest and neck, and both front and back across skirt. Interior of robe is lined in cotton. Stiff headdress (part b) is covered with the same fabric, and holds similar embroidery on front. Shape is squared with wide, scalloped rim at top that curls near the ears. Two long ties fall from the sides, each with an embroidered panel at bottom.
Robe and collar worn by statue of three-eyed Cantonese opera patron deity, Hwa Kwong. Statue dressed in this robe would have been displayed on an altar. White robe has long sleeves, the right cuffed at wrist, the left with a water sleeve. Right shoulder has an added panel. Neck is small and rounded, and robe opens from the right side of the torso where it is secured with ties and metal snaps. Front is heavily decorated in colourful sequins, with three gold and red dragons at centre of chest, surrounded by curving lines in a variety of colours that continue onto the left shoulder, right shoulder-panel, and around back of neck. Bottom front is densely sequined in diagonal lines, and is lined in blue on the interior. Arms have curling lines in silver. Back of robe is undecorated but for a symbol in gold sequins. Collar (part b) is round, with ties at back to fasten it around neck. It is also heavily sequined, showing two gold dragons amongst colourful curling lines. Back is lined in blue.
Pair of silver earrings. Done in filigree, earring shape consists of a circle at top holding at centre a round cubic zirconia stone surrounded by small pearls. Beneath circle sits a half-circle swag, from which swing nine thin triangle shapes. A thin hook sits at top of each earring, to insert into the wearer’s ear.
Small hammered gold ring. The band widens at the top, to about twice the width of the bottom. There is a carved design, on the wide area at the top, of a single bunch of grapes, with one curling vine tendril at the upper end.
