Bark ShredderA2293

Salish style thin, wooden shredder, rectangular in shape, consisting of a board with a central oval shaped cut forming a handle. Lower edge is slightly beveled and worn smooth through use. The handle consists of two pieces of wood nailed together. There are two holes in the body of the piece on one side, and one hole on the opposite side. Traces of a dark brown stain adhere in sections on one side only.

A brown wood mask with a broad short beak. The face is painted white with circular black eyes, black eyebrows, flaring red nostrils, diagonal black dashes along the beak, which has a hole in the middle, and black triangles along the upper lip line with red lips. The mouth is moveable.

Wooden, carved, bear mask with a long snout painted black with red nose and edging. The jaw is hinged with fibre twine on either side to the lower mouth. The face is black with black, outlined eyes on a white background. The brow is black with white edging and line design. There is a square piece of abalone inlay on either side, centred in a white U-form. The inside of the mask is hollow with the exception of an attached twine cord that attaches to the mouth. The mask is painted black, red and white with Northwest Coast stylized designs.

Mask (part g) with a rim around the top and sides, slightly raised eyes, raised cheekbones, and a mouth with downturned corners. The mask is painted with black scallops on red with a brown border around the rim, red scallop designs on a white forehead, black eyebrows, green around the eyes, brown scallop design under the eyes, red nostrils, green cheeks with brown and red circles, white over the upper lip with a black scalloped moustache, red lips, and a brown chin. The mask has six interchangeable mouthpieces: a) an oval mouth with red lips and protruding tongue, and one row of natural wood teeth; b) a mouth with downturned corners, red lips and a protruding tongue, and a row of natural wood teeth; c) pursed red lips; d) a v-shaped mouthpiece with brown lips and a red protruding tongue; e) a wide, closed mouth with brown and red lips; f) an elongated oval-shaped mouth with closed red lips.

Three green beaded rolls with a beaded geometric patterned flap consisting of a blue x-shape with two red diagonal lines, both of which have triangles outlined by black on a white background. The flap is bordered by red beads with some blue along the inner bottom. Three pink beaded rolls with a full fringe of red, white, and blue beads. The three green beaded rolls and the three pink beaded rolls are attached by three open work beaded bands and brass buttons on each side. Sections of beaded, rolled fabric.
