Carved wooden face mask with a horned headdress carved at the top. The face has a pronounced brow and lips, and wide straight nose. Eyes are half lidded and oval-shaped. Cut-outs underneath lids. Face is painted dark red with white semi-circles outlined in black, below eyes. Angular ears protruding from either side of face, with raised cube motifs carved along inner edges. Cubes painted black. Black line painted between face and headdress, which has a raised curved edge. Headdress area painted dark brown, with two carved horns, curving inward. Holes drilled into either side of mask with wire attached for hanging.

Fly Whisk3480/3

Fly whisk, consisting of a tooth handle and long strands of white horse hair. Handle has an angled end, and two rings of silver-coloured metal along its length. Top of handle flares out into a semi-circle, with a long wooden rod protruding from the top. Metal wire wrapped around base of rod, with a looped tie, for hanging purposes. Rod is covered in grey and dark brown fibre, woven into design of alternating diagonal lines. Horse hair extends from the sides, front and top of the rod. Hair curves downward naturally, thinning out towards end of whisk.

Male and female doll attached to a wooden stand. Dolls are made of stuffed white cloth and have painted facial features. Both have black and grey eyes, with white highlights, and thick eyelashes. The female doll has additional pink highlights in her eyes. Both have rosy cheeks and dark brown eyebrows. His eyebrows are thick, hers are curved. Their lips are full and coloured light pink. He has closely cropped hair, with a middle part. Her hair is pulled into a low braid, that hangs down her back, and is secured with a long red tie. The male doll is wearing a light pink jacket, with a matching outer neck facing and a cream inner neck facing. The jacket is tied shut with a large pink ribbon. Overtop he is wearing an open, dark purple vest, with beads along the left side of the opening. He is wearing loose pants, that match his jacket, and black shoes. All of his clothing components are covered in floral embroidery. Done in light pink and dark purple. On his back, the male doll is wearing a bell-shaped, carrying basket for wood. It has braided, plant fibre straps attached to a wooden frame, that rests against his back. The basket, tied to the frame with wire, is woven from white twist ties. His right arm is bent at the elbow and extending outward, palm facing inward. His left arm is wrapped around the shoulders of the female doll. She is wearing a short yellow jacket, with a dark purple outer neck facing and a light pink inner neck facing. The sleeves of her jacket are covered in horizontal bands. Stripes done in white, lavender, pink, teal, red and yellow. The jacket is tied shut with a dark purple ribbon. Underneath, she is wearing a dark purple dress with a wrap skirt. Around her waist, she is wearing a white, gauze-like apron, for holding flowers. Her right arm is holding the bottom corner of the apron, lifting it away from her body. Her left arm is bent at the elbow, with her hand in front of her chest, palm facing inward. Both dolls have their heads turned toward one another, their bodies facing forward. Wooden stand is painted black and has paper labels attached to the base.

Underneath, she is wearing a white dress, trimmed with a wide, light green band along the bottom edge. All clothing components are covered in floral embroidery. Done in white, light green and dark green. She has rough, open weave pants and an underskirt on beneath her dress, and plain white shoes. Her right arm is bent at her side, with her hand curved out in front of her body, palm facing down. Her left arm and wrist are slightly bent, palm facing down, and resting at her side. Wooden stand is painted black and has paper labels attached to the base.

Model Kayak3467/8 a-b

Long model kayak made from dehaired seal skin. The kayaker is attached to the inside seat area of the kayak and consists of an upper body only; he wears a seal fur parka and holds a wooden model paddle out front, in both hands. The figure's face is made out of stocking, with an embroidered face, including part of a blue wool cap (or hair?). There is a separate model harpoon (part b) with a wood handle, antler point and sinew rope, that fits under the skin lashings of the kayak. Model is unsigned.

Light brown flower tucked into hair, on right side. Oval-shaped cloth attached to either side of her face, imitating ears. Doll is wearing a long, light pink jacket, with open sides and a matching outer neck facing. The inner neck facing is white. The bottom corners of the jacket, on both sides, flare out sharply. On the front centre of the jacket is a dark purple circle, bordered with a gold-coloured, scalloped ribbon. The jacket is tied shut with a long, darker pink ribbon. Underneath, she is wearing a loose blue dress that ends just above her ankles. All clothing components are covered in floral embroidery. Done in pink and blue. She has rough, open weave pants and an underskirt on beneath her dress, and plain white shoes. Both arms are bent at the elbow and curve in front of her body, at chest level. Her hands have their palms facing down, overtop of one another. Wooden stand is painted black and has paper labels attached to the base.

Figure3477/1

Cast bronze figure of a woman sitting and cleaning rice. Figure’s body and limbs are long and thin. She has a long rounded nose, pronounced lips and eyes, and heavy brows. Her hair is curly, with incised lines throughout, and is styled in a low bun. Figure is wearing a short skirt, with incised horizontal lines throughout, and triangular headpiece. The edges of the headpiece are braided, front has diagonal incised lines throughout, and back is plain. Wearing earrings, anklets, arm bands and a necklace that wraps around her neck before draping down in between her breasts. Two swirl designs, done in relief, on the figure’s shoulders. Her left leg is propped up, her right leg is bent and resting flat. In her left hand she is holding a container with rope cords, in her left she is holding a handled platter with water(?) running off it. Two semi-circular protrusions along bottom edge, on back of figure.

Mate Container3482/2

Small, gourd mate container with stainless steel decoration. Container is dark brown and spherical in shape. It has a raised, rounded lip with braided trim. Plain border around the container opening. Six vertical bands protrude downward from the border, hooking onto an undecorated ring below the container body. Three of the bands extend into curved legs. Lip, trim, border, bands and ring are all made of stainless steel. Interior of container is rough, covered in dried pith.

Mate Container3482/8 a-b

Silver mate container (part a) with straw (part b). Container is oval-shaped, with a narrow mouth and everted lip. Plain, raised band around middle. On either side of the band there are finely incised floral and curvilinear motifs. Three legs are attached to the sides of the container, with an undecorated ring below the body, connecting the legs together. Legs are shaped like flowers and have incised floral motifs across them. The straw (bombilla) has a rectangular top and globular bottom. The top is flat and gold coloured. The upper half of the stem is twisted and has raised bronze coloured geometric motifs overtop. The bottom half of the stem is undecorated. The rounded lower end of the straw is perforated, to act as a filter.

Mate Container3482/4

Small, gourd mate container. Container exterior is covered in orange-brown leather, stitched together along the back side. It is oval-shaped and has a raised, rounded lip made of stainless steel. The lip slopes into a plain border, that extends slightly outward from the container. Leather is pinched in three places, along the base, to form triangular legs. Interior of container is rough, covered in dried pith.
