Obverse: bust of Phocas, facing front, with consular robes and crown with cross; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds a cross; above the mappa, there is another cross; to left, inscription says ‘OMFO’; to right, ‘PERPAV’. Reverse: large ‘XXXX’; to right, ‘III’ in a vertical position; above, ‘ANNO’; in exergue, ‘CONΔ’. To the lower right of the bust on the obverse, there are several indistinguishable letters, indicating that this coin was overstruck on a coin from an earlier emperor. This was most likely Maurice Tiberius.
