All protected by rectangular piece of white covering gauze and folder (b): thick, heavy, roughened, yellow white paper, folded over, flap opening from left, all edges retaining an irregular deckle edge. Brown rectangular strip on front has black printing of paper name in Japanese and English.

Sample (a) has large white brown middle section with faint white brown, shining scene of reeds and boat(?), and fine gold-coloured grass and floral motifs scattered randomly overtop. Flanked on vertical by coloured sections joined to edges: on left, yellow brown with silver and some gold foil pieces; on right, brown with gold foil pieces and irregular inside edge from five overlapping sheets joined together. Fibrous, course, uneven sheet (a) with thickly- painted yellow brown design of fruit(?), flowers and leaves: randomly-placed relief design is green and dark green leaves, three round red objects, each capped with a seed cluster, two flowers with orange petals, and two red cup-like flowers, one large, one small, each with seed clusters at centre. Yellow brown ground has ribbed texture and appearance, and shows reliefs of vines and leaves, dark brown in recesses of paper. Oil painting in bright colours consisting of a series of small, square scenes. Each depicts a different story with a variety of characters. The painting illustrates, in forty-four scenes, the legend of the Queen of Sheba's visit to Solomon. Above each scene is an explanation in Amharic.
