There is Ethiopian text to the viewer's right side of all six boats, as well as above the three groups of figures on land. There is additional Ethiopian text at the top of the painting. The cloth itself has uneven edges.

The majority of the figure's body is outlined with small green, red, and purple dots. In the centre of the figure's body are three sets of concentric white, brown, red, and green circles. There are several paint marks on the back. There are two illegible inscriptions/labels on the back and three (one legible; the other two, illegible) on the back of the stretcher.

There is a narrow cylindrical handle followed by a flat end carved with a creature with two large round eyes with red centres. There are two labels adhered to the back, and faded writing in red ink.

There is a numbered label written in ink or pencil on the lower right side of the back of the skin.

There are thin red lines along the upper and left sides of the front of the skin. There is a small numbered label written in ink on the bottom right of the back of the skin.
