Gong3489/1

Hollow brass gong with open base. Top has raised circular knob in centre. Vertical lines, of different lengths, incised along sides of knob. Surface of gong is tiered-like, with knob on a raise portion that gently slopes towards edges. Sides of gong taper inward slightly. Two holes drilled along tops of sides, with light yellow nylon(?) cord strung through them. Knot tied towards middle of cord, for hanging purposes.

Model Kayak3467/8 a-b

Long model kayak made from dehaired seal skin. The kayaker is attached to the inside seat area of the kayak and consists of an upper body only; he wears a seal fur parka and holds a wooden model paddle out front, in both hands. The figure's face is made out of stocking, with an embroidered face, including part of a blue wool cap (or hair?). There is a separate model harpoon (part b) with a wood handle, antler point and sinew rope, that fits under the skin lashings of the kayak. Model is unsigned.

Spirit Dance StaffA17070

Long staff, pointed at the top, skinned bare of bark and branches up to 14 in. from the top where a series of 6 branches extend perpendicularly from the staff in all directions. A number of deer hooves and feathers are fastened with thongs and string around the branches. A blue nylon scarf is tied just below.
