Black obsidian side-notched point with a flat base and a broken tip. Christopher 10/16/1998. Dr. Dennis Jenkins, University of Oregon, sent this specimen to Northwest Research Obsidian Studies Laboratory, Corvalis, OR for analysis (on loan 11/30/98 - 4/9/99). A portion of this specimen was removed for obsidian hydration. The source of raw material was determined to be Cougar Mountain. Northwest Research Obsidian Lab placed a paper tag in the specimen bag with the following information: [Lab Contract #] BO-98-91 [Catalog #1989-57/35-M-] 72 [Collection Name] Bergen [Analysis] Specimen No: 34 [Source Location] Cougar Mountain See also the following report from Northwest Research Obsidian Studies Lab for more detailed analytical data: Skinner, Craig E. and Jennifer J. Black obsidian point, one side is corner-notched and the opposite side is side-notched. The tip is broken. D. Bradley 01/11/99
Bifacially flaked obsidian corner-notched point. The edges of the blade are slightly concave with a few flakes removed. The barbs above the notches are intact but the left stem tang of the numbered face is broken. The base is concave and the numbered face is encrusted with ash. R.Williams 5/13/98
