Wooden face mask. Face has a white painted background with heavy black brows, black rimmed eyes, and a thin black mustache over black teeth in a down-turned mouth. Chin and nostrils are red. Green and red lines decorate the cheeks and sides of chin are green. Hair is carved into thick diagonal strips and painted red, green and black. Back of mask is concave and unpainted.

Dog Whip3169/1

Dog whip. Used with sled dogs, the whip has a wood handle with curved grip and three faceted sections each showing a different animal. Bottom section has an incised wolf or dog on either side; central section has a seal; and third shows a fish. All are filled with grey paint. Top side of facets have a green diamond, red arrow, and a red hook carved into them. Carved squares between the sections are painted red. The whip is attached to the end of the handle through holes in the wood. It is made of looped strands of black and brown leather woven to create a hard but flexible cord that diminishes in diameter toward the tip.

Clay bull. Animal stands on short cone-shaped legs, neck tall with small head held high, and curving horns above protruding ears. Eyes are etched into the side of the head while snout holds incised mouth and nostrils and a tongue raised to lick nose. Stomach is rounded and hangs low. On top of rump is a hole surrounded by a high neck leading into the hollow centre of the vessel. Between this and neck of cow arches a handle. Object is decorated overall with light markings of leafy tree branches and lines with a scalloped design.

Clay ram. Torso rests on ground, with no evidence of legs. Small tail curves down above rump. Neck is short and thick, a small head with narrow snout emerging. Large horns curve onto cheeks and eyes protrude slightly. At top centre of back is a hole with short neck and rounded rim leading into the hollow centre of the vessel. Body is painted a dark red at the midpoint over a base colour of brown.

Clay bull. Animal is standing on short legs, head forward, tail curved onto hip. Neck is arched, and dewlap is pronounced below throat. Stomach is well rounded. At top centre of back is a hole with a short neck and pronounced rim leading into the hollow centre of the vessel. Upper sides, neck and forehead of bull are painted a rust red with white linear emphasis.

Bull is painted with yellow, orange and green over a brown base, with a shiny glaze in select areas.

Clay bull. Animal stands on short legs, neck wide and muscular, head held high with large curving horns to either side of a mop of tightly curling hair. Dewlap is pronounced below throat, and stomach is rounded and hangs low. Tail curves up onto back. At top centre of back is a hole with a short neck and rounded rim leading into the hollow centre of the vessel. Right side of animal has incised designs on hip and withers, and is covered in a shiny mottled brown glaze. Opposite side is matte.

Brow is prominent and holds two etched eyes while snout shows an incised mouth and nostrils. Stomach is rounded and hangs low, each side painted with a large oval of red-brown. Tail curves up onto back and is decorated in a stamped herringbone pattern. At top centre of back is a hole with a short neck and rounded rim leading into the hollow centre of the vessel.

Clay bull. Animal stands with head raised on a wide muscular neck, horns curving to the front over small square ears. Eyes are incised, as are nostrils and mouth, and tongue rises to lick nose. Loops of clay decorate the face and fall down the animal’s chest in a double row. Pin wheels are placed at edges of mouth, on head, back of neck and sides of stomach. Tail curves to rest on back and falls to the side, long and wide, with defined hair at end. On centre of back is a hole surrounded by a tall flaring neck that leads into the hollow centre of the vessel. Figure is painted a mottled orange and yellow-green overall with brown lines and swirls and the outlines of a saddle.

Tile3160/70

Ceramic tile, square. On a light grey background, tile has an image in maroon of a castle with a central tower, peaked rooves, and a chimney spewing a thick stream of smoke. Trees and a fence sit behind the buidings, and boats sail the waters to the side. The corners of the tile are decorated with a spider motif. Top surface of tile is glazed and shiny with shallow cracks in the glaze; sides and bottom are undecorated.
