Lantern Slide3000/43

Hand painted glass lantern slide. The square plate shows an image of a grey bear in combat with two humans. The bear stands upright, in contact with a man in a blue cloak, bleeding, who is stabbing the bear’s chest and stomach with a long spear. The bear bleeds from the spear wound, as well as from its mouth. The second figure stands behind the first and hefts a spear at shoulder level, aimed at the bear. The background of the image is black. (No frame.)

Lantern Slide3000/42 a-c

Hand painted glass lantern slide. Part a is glass slide covered with an image of two human figures in red skirts and sashes to the left of a full, grey moon. The leftmost figure leaps in the air, arms extended. The second figure is in front of the moon, facing left. The background of the image is black at top, brown at bottom. Part c is a second glass slide pointed at one end, with a black painted area in the lower centre. When matched with part a, the black part covers the leaping figure, leaving just the figure who appears to be 'carrying' the moon with a burden belt? Part b is a broken corner of part a. (No frame; irregularly shaped or broken glass.)

Crucifixion Figure2956/165

Wooden crucifx on a base. Christ is shown with a cloth around his hips, a crown of thorns and blood dripping down his body. He is on a black cross which has a black stepped base. “I.N.R.I” is painted on a plaque at the top. The back is unpainted and has some paper attached at the top.

Bentwood Chest3000/22 a-e

Painted bentwood box. Rectangular box is painted on all sides with images of animals and faces in black and red. Two of its corners are reinforced with metal plates attached with nails. The front panel (part b) is detached and shows an oval face at centre, with hands at the sides, possibly wearing a headdress? The face is embellished with metal studs along its perimeter, mouth, and nose. The box is attached to its base by long metal nails. Parts c, d, and e are fragments from the front panel.

One side of paddle has remnants of white paper attached at blade sides and on shaft near grip. Shaft is long, round, and narrow, flaring and flattening toward the grip, which is a thick carved cylinder of wood. Grip and bottom shaft on one side are covered in masking tape.
