Spirit of the Ancestors-This maskette takes the form of a Tlingit shaman's headdress. Many contemporary Northwest Coast artists draw inspiration from both old and new objects from tribal traditions other than their own.

Bulbous cream-coloured vase with flared neck, decorated in dark blue and purple designs. One side depicts a shield, in which the bottom is half blue and half cream and the top half features three blue fleurs-de-lis. The other side has an abstract design encircled by a purple vine-like line with blue circles. The vase’s neck and base are also decorated with rings of vine-like patterns.
