Gambling Game Pieces1335/1 a-d

Four cylindrical game pieces, all of which have black painted ends. Two of the pieces (a-b) are otherwise undecorated. The other two (c-d) have decoration in bands around their centres. Part c has two bands of green lines with zigzag lines between them; in between these two bands is a band of small, red dots. Part d has two bands of zigzag green lines that are directly adjacent to each other.

Stringed Musical Instrument2668/2

Cantonese opera instrument. Two string fiddle, or violin (erhu, erxian), with bow attached, made from bamboo cane; two gourd-like pegs and two strings stretched over a bridge attached to a section of bamboo covered with reptile skin. Bow is strung with hair.

Black, triangular piece of leather with a fringe and border of alternating sections of red and black seeds sewn onto it. The centre of the piece features decorative beading with black, red and white-brown coloured seeds, as well as the necks of three gourds, sewn so that they protrude from the leather at a ninety degree angle.

The head has a red face with moustache, and black hair with a golden hat that has a brim at the front. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached, and a pink skirt. On the torso is a black velvet apron with light brown wavy edging, glass bead design, and a red fringe at the bottom.

Mirror Images2611/1 a-c

Wood and glass sculpture consisting of two parallel glass panels with glass bases (parts b-c) that sit in a fitted depression on the wooden disk (part a). A pale green ribbon of rippled wood passes between the glass and is bolted to the wooden disk below. The panels are green glass, each with a frosted etching of a Maori-type paddle, with salmon and hammerhead shark motifs. Images in each panel are symmetrical in shape, and similar in design. Glass bases point away from each other. Glass panels have rippled edges.
