Mask1768/6

Carved wooden nak nox mask of human face with red and blue striped design. Outer sides of nose and lips outlined in red. Circle design on sides of either cheek. Two strips of rawhide on back, attached with metal nails on one side. Strip of wood nailed across lower back of inside. Top of nose attached with three wooden dowels. Plastic wire attached by screws on top of inside.

Carved and painted face mask. Eyes, nose and mouth have holes carved through them. Mouth also has five upper and lower teeth. Painted dark red-brown, with black brows, white forehead, eye-sockets, nose and cheeks, green marks across cheeks. Leather cording is attached through two side holes.

Basketry Canoe1719/20 a-d

Coiled cedar root basketry canoe (part a). One seat (part b) has been detached. There are two paddles which are painted black on one side of the blade with a white letter in the middle, one has an "S" (part c) and the other has an "M" (part d).

Model Totem Pole1768/76

Model totem pole. Flat bevelled base attached with nails. From bottom to top, whale with tail flipped back into mouth and fin on top of head and raven with yellow beak. Ovoid, feather and hatched designs throughout pole. Varnished. Top figure might be a loon due to pattern around its neck; killer whale below.

Wolf Headdress1768/75

Wooden wolf headdress. Series of carved scallops with painted black circles in each segment run down from over the eyes to bottom of headdress. Flat slanted snout nailed on. Black carved eyebrows. Wide red teeth. Black circle eyes outlined in red, designs in black, red, green over yellow-white face. Obituary notice from newspaper pasted on inside of headdress.

Wolf Headdress1768/74

Wooden wolf headdress. Front is narrower than back and nailed to sides. Carved strips representing teeth screwed into inside of jaw. Back of mask decorated with curved loops. Top has sealion whiskers inserted into small holes. Snout represented by circular protuberance at each side and nostils are painted black and red. Large eyes painted at each side and background filled in with red linear designs.

Cushion Cover1730/16

Square, skin cushion cover. Fringe of different lengths along all four sides. Along edges between fringe and painting is a strip of skin laced through cover to attach cotton backing to front. Painted, incised design on front of a thunderbird, with outstretched wings, atop a Sisiutl. Middle of Sisiutl is painted with the face of a human figure.
