Small wood carving of Vishnu as Tirupati. The figure stands on a tiered burgundy platform, directly under a white, green and pink striped arch. Another larger, more ornate arch behind has columns painted on each side, and the top has a white face at centre. Both hands are extended out, with the right hand holding palm out, and fingers down. The upper body and chest are painted black, while the hands and feet are gold. The figure wears an ornate headdress with a gold cone extending from the top, large ear ornaments, chest ornaments, and sarong.
Carved and painted wooden walking stick. Broken into two pieces - top portion (part a) and lower portion (part b). The grip is bulbous, and extends down into a carved shaft. The figures from top to bottom - killer whale (dorsal fin goes up, forehead, pectoral fin), upside-down eagle (wing comes out, feathers fold over the other feathers), bear, wolf, human head, small animal (bird?) which is being consumed by a sea or snake-like creature, whose scaled body extends down to the tip of the cane.
Model wooden totem pole. Carved figures from bottom to top: frog, beaver, killer whale(?), eagle, [unknown figure], frog, [bear/wolf/sea lion], eagle with an eaglet in front. The back of the pole is plain with a single metal tack.
Model wooden totem pole. Figures, from bottom to top: 'Split Face' with three downwards-facing fish between, downwards facing sea bird, and a mythological creature with wings open and down to the side. Designs are painted in black, dark green and taupe. Back is plain, with a single metal eye bolt for mounting.
Wooden mask. Face is painted white, with three repeating blue diamonds on each cheek and across the forehead. The mask has large lips, raised nose, and protruding eyes, with holes drilled through the pupils, and areas cut out underneath both eyes. Long ears extend up each side of the head. The figure has a cone-shaped hat with repeating triangles in blue or white, and a collar extending out from below the chin with white and dark blue vertical stripes.
Wooden bovine headdress (or mask). The animal has two large, slightly curved horns extending up and over its head. There are two small ears on either side, next to the eyes which are carved in low relief. The snout is long, with nostrils flared at the end, and teeth bared. The teeth, eyes and nostrils show remnants of white paint.
Carved and painted wooden warthog mask, with two large circular eyes on the front and two small red pointed ears. Extending down is a large tube-like snout, with tusks extending up over the upper jaw, and teeth (repeating triangles) along the sides. The top of the snout is decorated with repeating V's in black and white. A plain wooden collar extends back from the head, and has many holes drilled through it. A short loop of fibre cord is attached at the top.
Shadow puppet of a 2 dimensional human-like figure riding a large mythical bird. The golden skinned figure has a black face with red markings, and long curling black hair. He wears an elaborate, colourful headdress and a robe around his shoulders that falls to his feet. Bracelets adorn wrists and ankles. In front of the figure sits a small green lizard. The bird Garuda has long blue feathers making up tail and wings, and small, delicate brown feathers on the chest. The eyes are red and staring, and a long snout displays many sharp white teeth. It stands on grey birdlike feet on floral grounding. The leather of the puppet is pierced with patterns of lines, holes and curlicues, which allow light to shine through. The whole is held up by a horn handle attached to the leather with fibre. The puppet is painted identically on both front and back.
Model canoe (part a) with four paddles (parts b-e) and five figures (parts f-j). The boat is long, narrowing toward the ends, widest at midpoint. The outer walls of the canoe have painted designs in red, black and green at both ends and on both sides; the central area is unpainted. Five benches span the width of the canoe’s interior. The paddler figures are painted red, with black hair; all five are painted with green mask-like faces, with black eyes and red lips. The four carved paddles are painted with black, red and green bands.
Portrait mask. Mask is painted blue with large black eyebrows and black eye outlines. The eyes are carved out as circles; the nostrils are painted red; the mouth is slightly open and carved through with a rectangular opening, the lips are painted red. Below the lower lip is an inlay of abalone as the labret. On the back are four holes with a hide strap attached at each side. Artist’s inscription on back: RD 75.
