BowlEdz1414

A ceramic bowl that has a steeply rounded form with an everted lip. The white porcelaneous body is grey-brown with iron specks where fired. There is a high foot which has an unglazed foot rim. The base is conical, and glazed. Interior has a floral motif in the centre, sketchily painted underglazed in bright blue, and two blue lines at junction of bottom and wall, one just below lip. Exterior has six separate, freely painted but similar, scrolling leaf, petal and vine motifs in bright underglaze blue evenly distributed around bowl. The thick grey-white glaze has numerous bubbles with iron specks and bare spots and pools into thicker white over painting, greying the blue tone.

Model Totem PoleA2538 a-c

Part a is a model totem pole which includes an eagle on top of a human holding a fish. Part b and c are wings detached from the body of the eagle. Part c has a white dot on the rectangular insert tab. Two nails secure the pole to a rectangular base.

Feast LadleA8377

Large wooden ladle with a deep bowl and a cylindrical shaped handle carved in the form of a sea-lion. The bottom of the mouth attaches to the top of the spoon. The nose, eyes and mouth are carved, there is shallow engraving for side fins. The end of the handle consists of the back fins formed together in an oval-like shape. Painted black but there are traces of white and orange paint.

Feast DishA7237

Feast dish representation of a seal carved from a single log with the body deeply hollowed to form the bowl. The seal's face has carved ovoid eyes and crescent-shaped nostrils. The body is decorated with horizontal adzing except above the forefeet where vertical adzing suggests legs. Adzed fluting surrounds the rim of the bowl. Between the hind feet is a smaller bowl at the end of which is a small carved face. There are supporting legs under the rear of the body. The seal has traces of black, red, white and green paint.

Feast DishA6936

Long, wooden feast dish carved in the shape of an animal, with a deep, oval shaped bowl in the middle. The tail is paddle shaped and curves downward to join the body; it’s legs are carved in relief against the body, the feet support the bowl. An abstract design is painted on the tail. The exterior rim of the dish is painted with a continuous pattern of alternating opposing pairs of white semicircles with inset green triangles. Both sides of the object are painted with a large human face with a downturned mouth - the face is outlined in blue on a white background. Has been badly broken, and repaired.

A small glazed ceramic dish whose form curves up sharply from an unglazed foot. The base is recessed. The coarse body is a light yellow-brown where exposed. Glazed translucent and mainly clear, tinged with grey-green but pooling occasionally to a blue. Exterior is plain. Interior has floral and foliage motifs painted in underglaze blue, the whole enclosed by double blue lines at the junction of bottom and sides. A single blue line runs beneath the rim.

Bottle that is octagonal in cross section with a large base, a narrow neck, and a flaring mouth. Fine hard grey-white porcelaneous body; outwardly flaring foot that is unglazed; traces of pale yellow glaze on base. Pattern in underglaze blue: deep band of upright lotus panels; two lions, one each on opposing sides of the vessel, playing with brocaded balls trailing ribbons, and surrounded with cloud forms; all freely executed in blue washes outlined in dark blue; surmounted by another band of lotus panels, pendant; a narrow band of crosses enclosed within circles; and a high band of upright banana leaves above.

A light orange-brown wood mask with dark brown hair for the eyebrows and moustache along the sides of the red mouth. The large oval eyes are cut out and the nostirls ar cut out. Two black curvy horizontal lines go from the nose to the other sides of the cheeks. Rubber is tied with string around the back through two small holes at either sides.
