Tapa ClothC1257

The cloth is narrow and natural in colour with designs painted in black and dark red. There is a narrow black border along the edges with natural coloured elongated 'X's. Inside the borders a stamped design is repeated. The design shows a natural coloured leaf in a red triangle next to an inverted step triangle with a black sunburst in the centre. The cloth is made of three pieces attached together and painted on one side.

Long narrow tapa (masi) with painted designs in black and brown on natural ground. There are four bands of brown triangles along the sides. Between the bands and in the centre panel are black floral motifs. The cloth is made of three pieces attached together.

The cloth is rectangular with an elaborate border and black and white geometric panels. The outside border has three parts. The first part, closest to the edges, is a solid black line. The second part is a red line containing natural coloured sunbursts. The third part is made up of three lines, two black lines and one white. The geometric panels are made up of black and white designs including chevrons, diamonds, squares and diagonal lines. Two sides have a cut fringe.

Wooden club made from a branch; cap-like knob on the bottom with a straight shaft leading to a curved end with spur. The underside of the curve has a rectangular section roughly carved, with traces of white paint; carved with tooth borders.

A rounded clay pot with a wide flared base. Has molded face in relief on each side. The red body is painted with white and black decoration. Each face has black horizontal slit eyes with a red outline that has radiating grooves for eyelashes, a prominent pointed nose, and smiling mouth, and a red dot on each cheek. In between each face, there is an alternating pattern of red and black vertically curved lines with a semi-conical protrusion in the middle.

The cloth is natural coloured, rectangular and decorated with eight panels. Each of the eight panels is a rectangle with a large 'X' extending from corner to corner. The border around the panel and the 'X' are red-brown. The area surrounding the 'X' is left natural but outlined in gray. The background is brown and cross-hatched with gray. Other details, such as differences in outlining and addition of dots, vary from panel to panel. Only one side of the cloth is painted.

Tapa cloth with brown and black on natural ground. In the centre is a vertical brown line with a black zigzag pattern. On both sides of the line are rectangles with a geometric pattern including the word ‘hakauga’ and floral, leaf and circle motifs. At the ends are undecorated squares with the words ‘tagi’ and mele’ on the left and the numbers 1 to 4 on the right.
