Carved wooden Noh mask of “Sakagami”. Painted with black hair and very faint eyebrows. The skin is painted in white and grey, the teeth are dark grey, its lips are red. The face is smiling There is a dark purple cord on the back of the mask attached through small holes at the temples. There are holes carved in the eyes, mouth, and nostrils. The back of the mask is dark brown wood, stamped with the maker’s mark. Part b is a fabric bag for part a, decorated with a pattern of flowers, waves, and a crane, in various shades of green, orange, pink and black. There is a crane on the back of the bag as well. The inside of the bag is white fabric written on with black ink in Japanese characters. The bag has white ties.

Carved wooden Noh mask of “Ko-omote”. Painted with black hair and very faint eyebrows. The skin is painted in white and grey, the teeth are dark grey, and its lips are red. There is a dark purple cord on the back of the mask attached through small holes at the temples. There are holes carved in the eyes, mouth, and nostrils. The backside of the mask is dark brown wood stamped with the maker’s mark. Part b is a fabric bag for part a, decorated with a floral pattern in various shades of green, orange, pink and gold. The inside of the bag is white fabric which has been written on with black ink in Japanese characters. The bag closes with white cloth ties.

Water puppet (mua roi nuoc) of Ky Lan unicorn (or lion) character. Puppet is carved from wood and has a large head painted red, a wide gold and green nose, and a wide moveable mouth barring white teeth. Eyes protrude from a scowling brow in front of a curling gold and green mane. Eyebrows are fan shaped and multicoloured, attached to the face by fishing line. An iron tube is bolted to the head behind the mouth, to receive a handle. The midsection is made of fine plastic tubing to enable movement, and covered by red cotton fabric. The rump of the animal is wood, with moveable legs on each side and a raised tail of green, gold, and red curls at centre back. Tin is attached to the interior edges of the head and rump where they meet the red cotton midsection. Part b is a long wooden pole that serves as the handling stick (see 3127/10 b).

Water puppet (mua roi nuoc) ball, made of a light metal, painted in a pinwheel design in colours of gold, red and green. An iron bar is bolted to the ball which allows it to rotate around a long, plain, wooden handling stick (see 3127/9 b).

Molded cream bowl with polished surface, flaring sides and a slightly flat base. Stylized mice at outer rim in black on cream background. Breakage repaired.

Molded bowl with rounded base, decorated interior, and burnished surface. Two painted fish designs in white, light grey and black, on red-brown background. Outer rim is red-brown. Not repaired.

Ring base bowl with flaring sides and rounded rim. Outer cream-coloured rim is in high relief; interior has four black crabs, four geometrical black figures near rim and a central medallion in base. Yellow-cream background. Broken and repaired.

Red-brown bowl with concave sides, flat base and notched gambrel. Outer surface has panels of geometric fish designs in black and cream on red-brown background. Inner rim has a red-brown band with a black edge. Lower inner body is grey-brown and notched. Incomplete; breakage not restored.

Polychrome bowl with straight sides, rounded base and polished surface. Outer surface has vertical fish designs in cream, grey and black with cream vertical lines in between. Dark red-brown background with orange band below black rim, red-brown interior, and grey-brown base. Broken and repaired.

Low conical bowl with decorated interior, rounded base and black rim. Abstract condor with human legs in dark red-brown, and wings in orange-brown, grey, and black, on yellow-cream background. Broken and repaired.
