Mouth Harp3559/29

Bamboo mouth harp with a decorative cover; cover is a hollow pink tube with purple designs engraved across surface. Design consists of bands filled with diamonds, diagonal lines and zigzags. Long piece of bright pink yarn tied around end of mouth harp, and it passes through small hole on top of tube, holding it inside; large tassel on end of yarn. Harp is an irregularly-shaped rectangle that tapers to an oval-shaped end; angled lip at tip. Thin tongue carved through centre.

Flower Stand3559/50

Three-legged wooden flower stand; exterior facing surfaces painted red-pink, interior is naturally coloured. Stand has an hourglass-like shape; top of stand is triangular, has a squat neck, and a triangular carved skirt that flares outward. Top and bottom sections of stand are decorated with floral motifs; done in dark yellow. Neck has white panels nailed to sides; dark brown dots painted along edges. Skirt consists of scallops and triangular protrusions. Curved legs extend past skirt and have rounded feet; foam pads on front foot.

Scales Box3559/15 a-b

Thin, irregularly-shaped black wooden box (part a) for metal scales (part b); hinged lid slides open from right side, secured with a metal band on left end. Lid has elephant motif carved in relief across entire surface. Design consists of a large elephant followed by two smaller ones walking towards left side of box. Background is filled with groupings of dots; border with inverted triangles carved along edges of lid. Main body of box is undecorated. The metal scales rest inside the box; walls carved to fit scales. Scales consist of a metal beam and two circular pans, attached on either end with three pieces of thread each; beam has shears and pointer protruding from the top centre edge. Tips of beam are pointed and decorated with incised diagonal lines; "X"'s and diagonal lines decorate sides of shears. Pointer and pans are undecorated.

Food Tray3559/51

Three-legged food serving tray, or low table; exterior facing surfaces painted red, interior painted black. Tray has a round top, with a high lip, before flaring out into carved skirt. Skirt consists of curvilinear protrusions on either side of the legs, with scallops and circular cutouts along the edges. Legs of tray bend inward before extending out; semi-circles carved into the outer bottom edges. Foam pads on bases of feet.

Betel Nut Box3559/33

Four-legged wooden betel nut box, with divided tray sections; walls of tray curve towards the centre. Top edges of box are lined with thin pieces of wood; secured with nails. Outer sides of box are covered in raised carvings. Designs on sides of tray are diamonds with Greek key motif, inside of large rectangles. Edges of rectangles are decorated with triangles. Sides, diamonds and triangles are painted black; red and yellow diagonal lines throughout diamonds. Legs are decorated with squares, filled with diagonal lines and triangles in various patterns; done in red, yellow and black. All designs are done in relief and the squares are outlined with black triangles. Decorative carvings extend downward from in between each leg; designs consist of scallops, circular cutouts and triangular outlines. Interior sides of box are undecorated.

Wolf Mask3578/1

Carved and painted wolf mask. The wolf's head is large and heavy, with a wide forehead, strong jaws and a long, blunt muzzle with black nose. The face is painted grey, with lighter grey markings. The eyes are cutout, and shows the red painted on the back of the mask. The wide mouth has bared teeth, and large triangular ears sit on either side of the face.

Betel Nut Box3559/34 a-b

Elevated wooden betel nut box (part a), with divided tray sections and a drawer in the front (part b); walls of tray curve upward towards the centre. Outer sides of box are covered in raised carvings. Designs on sides of tray are floral, with central vine-like carvings, inside of rectangles; rectangles are bordered with triangles. Sides on lower half of box are decorated with rows of concentric diamonds, above floral motifs. All sides of box are black, trimmed with pink; motifs are pink and yellow. Small circular and semi-circular cutouts in centre on all sides, along bottom edge. Front of drawer (part b) is decorated with bands of concentric diamonds and diamonds with a Greek key motif; done in black, pink, yellow, and dark brown. Interior of box is undecorated, interior of tray top and drawer are black.

Storyteller Figure3549/5

Ceramic figure of a female storyteller. She is depicted lying on her stomach, hands on either side of her head, legs elevated, and with ten children on her back. All figures are beige. She has a smooth circular face, large nose and round open mouth; eyes and nostrils done in black, mouth is dark orange. Short black hair, done in relief, wraps around top and sides of head. She is wearing flat shoes, short-sleeved dress and long necklace; shoes and necklace done in dark orange, dress is black with orange geometric motifs. There is a tied bow on her chest, and a wide belt wrapped around her waist. Nine of the children are lying on the storyteller's back, one is straddling the back of her neck. All of their hair is black, facial features a mix of black and dark orange. Their eyes are horizontal lines, noses are dots, and mouths are closed. The children are wearing pants and an assortment of short-sleeved and buttoned shirts. A majority of them have their arms crossed across their stomachs, others have their hands raised to their faces. All have black shoes and beige outfits; outfits are highlighted with dark orange. Artist signature painted on belly of storyteller, underneath belt.
