Blue and white porcelain pillow; hollow and rectangular in shape, with openwork on left and right sides. Openwork consists of two medallions that overlap at their edges; designs on medallions are central square cutouts and ovals along the sides. Leaves and flowers surround the medallions. Top, bottom, front, and back sides are bordered with a cloud motif; central designs are of different patterned medallions surrounded by flowering branches. Four medallions on front and back sides, done in staggered columns; seven on top and bottom with a central medallion circled by the other six.

Spear3573/25

Chambri Lakes initiation spear. Top, flat triangular crocodile-like head, with carved and painted semi-circular eyes and a black circle on snout. Plaited twine tied with a loop. Next section is ornately carved with six flowers, with a horn-shape extending from each flower. In between each pair of flowers appears a half flower, with horn-shape extending out into crosshatched fishtail end. Next section uncarved, light brown, with black bands on top and bottom ends, and small tapered carved sections. Next section ornately carved, two flowers, with concentric semicircles extending out. Thin handle wrapped with plaited red-brown twine. Lower section has ancestral face with five barbed pieces, four of which are ornately carved. The base of which is a smooth black.

Mask3573/4

Wood mask. Wide incised stripes have been carved vertically over the lower half of the face and in half circle patterns across the forehead. These have been filled with white creating a striped pattern. Down the centre of forehead is a ridge that widens and becomes the nose. Eyes are thin slits cut through the wood, with large rounded eyelids above and below. Mouth is a protruding cube, with white colouring the centre. Plant fibre is knotted to the chin, and hangs down. There are drilled holes spaced along the edge of the upper portion of the mask. The back of mask is concave and undecorated, with a black string tied to two of the holes.

Mule Mask3573/10

Macho (Mule) mask, carved and painted. The face is black, with a gold bridle painted on. The ears are separately carved pieces that are inserted in the face. The nostrils and gums are light pink, with large white teeth. There are large blue eyes, with large curved cutouts. There are two eyehooks at back with a green string.

Kachina figure, carved and painted. Small standing figure on small mound-like base. Figure wears long cape, headdress, long tunic, belt, black leggings and red boots. The headdress has many components – coral, two black horizontal lines, three turquoise horizontal bands, three black feathers with red bands, tie in the back. The figure’s hands rest at the belt on their waist. Written on base, '“Takush Mana” by Rick James'.

Famille rose porcelain bowl with four scenes painted along the sides; bowl is rounded, and has a flat foot. Bowl opening and foot are trimmed with wide bands. Border along opening is of alternating curvilinear and triangular motifs; dots inside curvilinear designs. Bottom edge has a border of identical structures inside rectangles. Scenes around sides are inside irregularly-shaped rectangles and consist of people in various scenarios, including fighting, flying kites, climbing trees, and holding lanterns. Surface around scenes and in between borders is entirely decorated with floral motifs. Bowl base is concave; red seal stamped in centre.

Paste Box3588/5 a-b

Blue and white porcelain paste box (part a); rectangular in shape with a separate lid (part b). Sides on both components have central four-petaled flowers surrounded by vines. Top of lid has a peony in the centre, surrounded by vines; edges are bordered with a Greek key motif. Bottom of box and interiors of box and lid are undecorated. Box has a raised foot, and an inner lip, for the lid to rest on.

Lime Press3570/4

Wooden lime press. Two similar-shaped sides are held together by a metal hinge, nailed into the ends of each side. Each side has a rectangular end with a smaller round handle. One side has a circular depression inside the rectangular area, with small holes drilled through the bottom; the corresponding spot on the other side has a circular protrusion with a metal nail(?) in the centre. The round wooden handles have traces of red and dark beige paint near the ends.

Devil Figure3573/16

Cartoneria or papier mache Judas devil figure. Standing figure with left arm forward, and right arm down at side. The face and large pointed ears are painted red, with inner ears painted blue with white outlines. The eyes are painted green, with black eyelids and eyebrows. The devil has two upright black horns, with a patch of synthetic hair adhered in between, and two more lengths adhered as a moustache. The chin is painted with black beard stubble. The body is painted green, with a blue painted neck scarf and matching blue boots, all with off-white details. Thin green string tied around neck and knotted. Vertical seam on back from construction.

Talavera pottery. Octagonal plate with raised flat lip, round shallow bowl, and dark blue rim. On the front, large eight-point orange floral design with eight green leaves separating each section. Within the orange are alternating white and light blue leaf-like designs. Large eight-point floral designAt centre, a small light blue flower within a dark blue eight-point star shape. The background is alternating patterns of green dots and connected dark blue dots. Back painted an off-white. Glazed on front and back. Single hole through the raised circular foot on the base.
