Talavera dish. Blue on white. Interior design of a tall flower flanked by leaves, encircled by two thin bands. The interior sides of the shallow bowl are decorated with repeating leaves on a light blue vine, with one thin, light blue band below the rim, with the rim a solid dark blue. Exterior is white. Base signed.

Seed Pot3573/12

Small round 'seed' pot. Small vessel with rounded shoulder that tapers in to a rounded bottom. There is a small hole at top, centre. Zoomorphic and anthropomorphic designs all over in bold brown-black and dark red-brown on a light off-white background.

Monkey mask, carved and painted. A blue-faced monkey with black hair and reddish-orange mouth and eyebrows. Two large pink ears. The top of the head and nose are black. The monkey has two large eyes with holes in the centre of the pupils, lined with red and yellow. The gums and tongue are red with white teeth.

Jar3588/6 a-b

Blue and white porcelain jar (part a) with separate lid (part b). Jar has a short straight neck, gently rounded shoulder, and a flat base with a raised foot; lid is circular, flat, and has straight sides. Neck and top of jar shoulder are unglazed; bottom of shoulder has a wide band decorated with a Greek key-like motif and plain lines. Band around foot is decorated with plain lines. Sides of jar have large "double happiness' symbols with a peony alternating above and below the symbols. Rest of jar surface is covered in curling vines; base is undecorated. Lid has large "double happiness" symbol on top, surrounded by small vines; edges around top and sides of lid are decorated with plain lines.

Jar3588/10 a-b

Famille rose porcelain jar (part a) with a separate lid (part b). Jar has a straight lip and slightly rounded shoulder before gently tapering to base; base is concave and has raised foot. Two slightly protruding, gourd-shaped handles on each side of jar. Jar opening and foot are trimmed with wide decorative bands. Border along opening is of alternating curvilinear and inverted triangular motifs; dots inside each shape. Bottom has border of alternating semi-circular and curvilinear motifs; dots and lines inside curvilinear designs. Sides of jar have moth, floral, and vine motifs covering entire surface. Lid is semi-circular with a large angled lip; long flange extends from where lip and main body of lid meet. Carving of creature, holding a red ball, functions as knob of lid. Lid lip decorated with floral and vines motifs; rest of lid has identical designs as sides of jar. Red seal stamped on centre of jar base; additional tag attached to base.

Multan pottery vase. Floral and geometric designs painted in dark blue and turquoise, with a white glaze. Vase is somewhat hour-glass shaped; the lower sides indent toward the round, unglazed base. The inside is mainly unglazed except for the top 4 cm which have uneven glaze over unpainted clay. Some small chips around the rim; five chips of surface material missing around lower body.

Pot3549/2

Large round pot with a wide circular opening and tall lip. Shoulder curves out sharply before gently tapering to a small circular base. Exterior of pot is painted solid white and decorated with six bands of varying widths. Lip is decorated with two bands, trimmed with white borders, that are made up of squares. Squares are filled with an assortment of geometric motifs; done in white, black and dark red. Middle of pot is decorated with a wide band filled with an alternating design of irregular shapes; top edge is bordered with semi-circles, bottom has a plain border. Shapes alternate between design and the edge they extend from. Shape extending from top edge has a square-like top, circular middle and tiered rectangles, with rounded tips, on bottom. Stair-like design frames the tiered rectangles. Shape extending from the bottom edge is a rectangle with a rounded top; bent arrows protrude from either side. Three tiered rectangles frame the bottom of the shape. Both irregular shapes are filled with geometric motifs; done in dark red, black and white. Large insects are painted in between the shapes. Three bands decorate bottom third of pot. Top two are similar to bands around lip; third is filled with white arches, with the negative space painted black. Interior of pot is lightly painted white to the midpoint; bottom half is natural clay. Artist signature painted along edge of base.

Round white pot with a wide circular opening and straight lip. Shoulder curves out sharply before gently tapering to a small circular base. Base is concave. Lip and shoulder are white and decorated with rows of imprinted semi-circles; black band painted where lip and shoulder meet. Band has a meander-like pattern, made up of white triangles. Edge above base is painted white. Four rectangular panels painted along sides of pot, divided by white lines. All panels have an identical design consisting of a diagonal band, stretching from the bottom left to the top right corner, creating two triangles in the top left and bottom right corners of the rectangle. Band has a white zigzag through the centre, creating an alternating triangle motifs; top triangles are orange, bottom ones are white with black lines throughout. Top triangle is filled with smaller triangles, ovals, diamonds and a meander-like pattern; done in black, white and orange. Bottom triangle is filled with smaller triangles, intersecting lines and floral motifs; done in black and white. Artist signature painted across base; pencil inscription along edge.

Storyteller Figure3549/7

Ceramic figure of a female storyteller. She is depicted sitting, with her legs stretched out straight in front of her, and holding a circular container. Three children are sitting on her legs, one is holding her left hip and she has three children balanced on each arm. All figures are white. She has a smooth circular face, with a thin pointed nose and round open mouth. Her eyes are painted closed; done in black, mouth is dark pink. Black hair is painted along the top, back and sides of her head; two buns protrude from either side, with pink hair ties wrapped around them. There is a butterfly on the side of her left bun. She is wearing tall boots, a long-sleeved dress, and necklace. Boots are white with black soles and black line decorations. Necklace consists of pink beads with matching fringe extending from the beads; inverted "U" pendant in centre of necklace. Dress is mostly black with white scalloped trim along the bottom edge. Sleeves, pointed collar and upper left section of dress are white. Sleeves are trimmed with black and pink stripes. Wrapped around her waist is a pink belt, that ties on the right side, with black geometric designs throughout. The container she is holding is white with a small circular opening in the top centre; animals motifs painted across surface, in black. The children all have black hair; boys have short hair, girls have braids. Their eyes consist of curved lines and mouths are oval-shaped. They are wearing an assortment of outfits, consisting of overalls, buttoned shirts, vests and short-sleeved shirts; done in black, orange, pink and white. A majority of the children have their hands stretched towards the storyteller's container. One child, sitting on the storyteller's left leg, is holding a small black bird. Artist signature painted on base of figure.
