Adire Cloth1774/7

Adire (indigo dyed) cloth. Composed of two panels, each made from squares with resist-dyed indigo designs. The designs are composed mainly of light blue bands composed of short lines and small circles with a band of small circles at two opposing edges. Small bits of palm leaf raffia are still found stitched along the pattern lines.

Semicircular fan with six feather panels that are attached to leaf(?) handles. Feather panels are decorated with smaller blue and red feathers near their base. White fluffed feather material is found on each panel just below the blue and red feathers. Panels are connected to each other at the bottom by a brown coloured fibre wrapped metal rectangular loop. Loop has a red and white tassel hanging from the centre.
