The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Container made from the capsule shell of a brazil nut. Round shell has been cut smoothly in half to create a dish with a lid, with a small flattened foot area on the base. The woody bark has been removed, leaving the exterior smooth, with some natural scarring. Three small round medallions of nutshell have been set into holes carved into the rim of the dish that correspond to holes in the lid, ensuring a tight fit between the two. A round wooden handle is attached to the top of the lid, around which is knotted plant fibre that also encircles the container from top to bottom, further holding the two pieces together.
Bamboo breast plate. Long row of 27 bamboo rods placed parallel to each other, attached together by plant fibre twine that is knotted at one end.
Agouti tooth chisels. Cane wood makes up the shaft of the chisels, with wrapped vine thread and tree resin used to secure the teeth. The agouti rodent teeth are very sharp, strong, thin and slightly curved, coloured a light orange. The two chisels are attached by cord tied around and indentation at the ends.
Cylindrical wooden dart (part a) with wood fragment (part b). The wooden dart (part a) tapers slightly along the shaft. There is a small, thinner section of wood extending from the wider end. There is a hole through the centre of the wood down the shaft. Plant fibre has been wrapped around the shaft near the tapered end. There are marks indicating that there was another section of plant fibre wrapped near the opposite end, which is no longer part of the object.
Headband of plaited plant fibre. Diagonal interlaced basketry technique. Slightly worn; complete.
Tuft of loose cords made of plant fibre and bindings of camelid wool threads. At one end protrudes a cord which would have been used to hang the tassel on a border garment. Red-brown, yellow, brown, green and light blue dyed wool.
