The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Wool and plant fibre doll. A small boat is constructed of unbleached fabric layered over a stiff framework, likely plant fibre or husk. Fine brown netting is wrapped around the ends of the boat and spans the length of one side between them. Three woolen figures sit inside the structure, each with a large head covered at back by a woven hood, red stitching for facial features, and arms constructed of plant fibre wrapped with yarn. Each wears a striped woven sweater and a burlap skirt.
Basket is rectangular but with rounded corners; sides flare out somewhat from base to rim. Made of sewn coils of wrapped cedar root bundles. Among the horizontal rows of the body are two rows of imbricated diamond shaped designs near the top and a single line of gammadion crosses near the bottom. Several thongs of hide are attached as loops through the basket near the rim; a braided fibre cord with a wide handle is also attached near the rim. The tumpline handle is woven with pink and brown wool in a diagonal pattern.
Ceramic ritxoko doll. Figure has two thick legs above tiny feet, a long torso and chest, and a small face with thick heavy brown hair high at top and falling down the back and sides past the shoulders. Large orange beads are added to the hair at the sides. A fringe of red and white wool falls from the face, and a plant fibre loin cloth is attached through a hole in the figure at midpoint and by a belt around the waist. Figure is painted with designs in orange and dark brown with triangular motifs.
Belt made of wood, shells and plant fibre. Wooden base is long, thin and curved, with all the bark removed, and loops carved at each end. Around middle between the loops the wood is covered in a dense weaving of plant fibres which serve as anchors for a line of upright shells that run the length of the piece along its top edge. Shells increase in size from ends to centre. Each is round, with concentric circles making up the interior structure. Cortex colouring is a white base with orange to dark brown dots.
Korowai style cape. Garment is woven tightly of a tan coloured wool, with alternating short, thick stripes of tan and black applied to front along both edges and top. A thick black fringe hangs from the bottom, with a few strands double the length of the rest. The body of the cape contains double strands of long black fringe widely spaced, amongst a light covering of feathers and down. The back is undecorated. At top corners are attached twisted ropes of plant fibre, with a smaller piece at bottom right.
