Seed headband. The headband consists of a single row of seeds strung parallel to each other on two woven strands of plant fibre. The woven fibres extend into long strings on each end and are knotted together.

Necklace2948/95

Necklace comprised of four strings of blue-grey beads attached to a rusted metal zipper end, and fragments of a bird’s beak. The beak forms the lower most decoration of the necklace and acts as a pendant along with the zipper. The four doubled over strands of seeds are bundled together and tied with medium blue fibre about a third of the way up from the beak and zipper decoration. The zipper end and beak are attached to the bundles by thick, brown woven plant fibres.

Arm ornament. Thick band of tightly woven natural fibres; two thick bands of dark red, alternating around a thinner band of yellow-orange fibres. The inside is dark brown in colour. The band is flexible.

Arm ornament. Long, woven ornament composed of plant fibre; somewhat flexible. The ornament is partly flattened at one end and rounded on the other. There is some irregularity in the tightness of the weave throughout the body of the object. One end is significantly darker in colour with a dark brown hue, as opposed to the rest which is yellow-brown in colour.

Rattle3051/9

Plain wooden rattle. The rattle’s head is made of two rounded, oblong pieces of deeply concave wood, hollowed on the inside, attached to each other on both long edges by strands of plant fibre (cedar root?), threaded through holes bored in the wood. The head is undecorated. Inside are noisemakers, possibly seeds. The handle is long, thin, and cylindrical, made of two similarly sized and shaped pieces of wood carved to fit together, hollow on the inside and held together by three metal nails. A small tuft of cotton thread is attached around the bottom nail on both sides. A decorative jog has been created in the connection point between the two pieces of wood on both sides of the handle.

Bag3031/1

Large woven string bag (bilum). Bag is constructed of plant fibre string, loosely woven in order to allow the bag to be expandable. Its shape is wide at the shoulder, narrowing toward a rounded bottom. The mouth is wide, edged with a wrapped stich. The bag is coloured in stripes of a variety of pinks, purple, green and tan. The upper two corners of the bilum extend into long handles, unattached, that each culminate in a variety of cotton fabrics, plain, coloured and patterned, tied to the handle ends. Small bits of dyed pink feather down are intertwined in the thread at the centre front.
