Pyramid-like basket, with circular opening and rectangular base. Has a short foot rim, made of rattan(?) strips. Basket opening shaped with three exterior coils of rattan(?). The top one is wrapped in dyed dark brown plant fibre, the middle is a wide, naturally coloured strip, and the bottom one is a thin dark brown strip. Coils are all tied together with dark brown plant fibre and plastic. Basket is naturally coloured and woven in alternating sections of horizontal and vertical chevrons. Two rods are intertwined through the basket, to secure braided shoulder straps. Rods form an “M” shape on the front and an upside down “U” on the back. Some sections of the “M” and “U” are only visible from the interior of the basket. The outer lines of the “M”, visible from the exterior, are wrapped in dark brown plant fibre. Above them, overtop where the rods are visible from the interior, are two zigzag designs, done in dark brown. Straps are attached to the front bottom edge of the basket and form an “X” shape. The straps extend overtop of the basket, loop through the rods on the basket back, and then circle around the base of the basket.
Rigid, cylindrical basket with wide lip. It tapers to a smaller base, with a high ring foot. Base is made of wood, sides made of strips of rattan(?). Strips are tied together, at intervals, with braided plant fibre and plastic. Strips are solid at base of basket, before splitting in two at the midpoint. Structure of basket formed with interior coils of rattan(?). Two coils along top edge. Large panel of bark attached to back of basket. Panel has three, wide braided straps secured to the sides and top.
Naturally coloured basket, woven in alternating sections of vertical and horizontal chevrons. Has a circular opening and rectangular, curved base. Body flares out slightly from opening and has rounded, angular sides. Opening shaped by three exterior coils of rattan(?). The top one is wrapped in golden brown plant fibre, bottom two are plain strips. Coils are tied together with golden brown plant fibre. Body structure formed by rods intertwined through the basket. Rods are around the opening, bottom edge and two curve under the basket base. Additional rods along front, forming an “M” shape. All plant fibre, forming basket, is stripped in centre exposing interior colour. Forms stripe pattern across entire surface of basket. Basket has a short foot, made of rattan(?) strips. It is painted black, with a naturally coloured zigzag, running through centre. Foot attached to basket, at corners, with braided plant fibre.
Flexible, cylindrical basket with flat base. Top edge is made of loops with a plant fibre cord strung through them. Cord connects to adjustable straps on either side of the basket. Straps are braided bands with looped ends. All sides of basket are decorated with mirrored horizontal bands. Middle row has a geometric motif on a naturally coloured background. Motif consists of repeating squares with triangles inside them, squares are divided with vertical bands of plain lines and concentric cubes. Plain black lines are on either side of middle row. Bands above and below are dyed black and have a naturally coloured wave pattern. Edge bands, bordered on either side with black lines, are black and have naturally coloured zigzags running through them. Base of basket has a wide black border, centre is naturally coloured.
Small, cylindrical fish trap with flaring lip, tapering to a smaller base. Inner cone, attached to top edge with braided plant fibre, extends to middle of trap. Trap base is made of wood, sides are made of thin strips of rattan(?). Base secured to trap with knotted plant fibre, forming an "X" shape. Cone is open on both sides, sides are made of identical thin strips of rattan(?). Strips on trap and cone are tied together, at intervals, with braided plant fibre. Trap structure formed with outer coils of rattan(?). Two coils are along the top edge, two coils along the bottom. Knotted plant fibre cord on back of trap, between the upper two coils, for movement purposes. Cone structure formed with inner coils of rattan(?).
Adze with a wedge-shaped blade made of smooth, grey stone. Blade is inserted into a thin piece of wood. Plain border carved in high relief where blade is inserted. Wood piece is attached to a carved, wooden hafting platform. End of platform comes to sharp point, that curves upward slightly. All pieces- blade, wood piece, and platform- are lashed together with wide, braided bands made of plant fibre. Adze haft extends from the bottom centre of the platform. It is cylindrical, long and slightly curved.
Carved wooden figure of a kneeling man. His entire body is long and thin. He is straight backed and his head is sticking straight out from his shoulders. He has an angular face, with bulging eyes, a prominent brow and short, wide nose. His cheeks are hollow, has a wide, open mouth and his chin is jutting out. Large oval-shaped ears on either side of head, with wide, tapering holes in their centres. Hair fibres are nailed to the top of his head, curving backwards. The hair is braided along his forehead. He has a woven plant fibre skirt around his waist, with fringe along the bottom edge. The man’s knees are spread widely apart, with his upper body resting on his heels. His left hand is resting on his knee and his right arm is bent in front of him, with his hand under his chin.
Carved wooden figure of a female giving birth. The woman’s entire body is thin and long. She is leaning backwards and her head is sticking straight out from her shoulders. She has an angular face, with bulging eyes, a prominent brow and short, wide nose. Her cheeks are hollow, mouth is wide open and her chin is jutting out. Wide, oval-shaped ears on either side of her head, with large holes in their centres. Hair fibres are nailed to the top of head, sticking up and curving backward slightly. The hair around her forehead is braided. The woman is kneeling, with her knees spread out and her hands hovering over them. The baby is protruding from beneath her woven plant fibre skirt, wrapped high around her waist. Child has an oval-shaped mouth and eyes, and a long, wide nose.
Goblet-shaped drum with animal skin stretched over the top. Skin is secured in place with wooden pegs and a secondary strip of skin. The shape of the batter head is formed with internal strips of plant fibre, visible at intervals through the skin. Drum has a triangle-like protrusion along the back, towards the top edge, with a small hole drilled through its centre. Likely for hanging purposes. A large hole is cut into the body of the drum, to the left of the protrusion. Drum is decorated with incised lines, circling the entire body. Designs are (from top to bottom): plain line, plain line, zigzag, plain line, and zigzag. Carved inscription over top the first band, to the right of the protrusion. A repair has been made on one side of the body, using sheet metal.
Wooden stool in the shape of a four-legged animal. Figure has a long, thin face and oval-shaped ears on either side of its head. High ridge runs down centre of face, with semi-circular eyes incised on either side. Mouth is carved wide open. Bridle-like ring done in relief around muzzle. Band of braided plant fibre- coloured yellow, green and red- secured around animal’s neck. Long strands of matching fringe extend from bottom edge of band, covering neck and imitating a mane. Cloth strip tied around animal’s neck, as well as a long, light brown cord. Cord loops around body of animal, imitating reins. Saddle and girth carved in relief on back and stomach. Rings, done in relief, decorate each leg. Animal has a rectangular tail, that curves downward, and is covered in strands of red and yellow plant fibre.
