Cantonese Opera Blouse2967/5 a-c

Woman's opera costume blouse (worn with 2967/4 and 2967/6). Light green shirt, lined fully inside in white fabric, closure up the back with snaps. Neck hole is very small and round. Each cuff has a large removable snap-on decoration (parts b and c) in the shape of flowers and foliage made of gold and silver sequins and transparent tube beads. In blue ink on the inside back of the shirt is a stamp with 3 rows of Chinese characters.

Cantonese Opera Pants2967/4 a-c

Woman's opera costume pants (worn with 2967/5-6). Pair of light green pants, with a wide white cotton waist band. The pants are meant to be pulled on, with no closure, strings or buttons. Legs are relatively wide and undecorated. Each pant cuff has a large removable snap-on decoration (parts b and c) in the shape of flowers and foliage made of gold and silver sequins and transparent tubular beads.

Cantonese Opera Vest2967/3

Woman’s lavender coloured vest (part of costume 2967/1 a-b and 2967/2). Vest is long, covering the hips, with side slits. The left front of the garment crosses over the right, leaving the right shoulder revealed. The vest attaches with metal snaps at the right edge. Gold and yellow sequins create a flowered band around the neck, edging around the armholes and sides of the garment, and a large flower and foliage design on the front and back. The exterior fabric is a thin crepe, while the inside is a shiny synthetic, both in the same shade of lavender. A round stamp with Chinese characters is on the inside centre of the collar.

Cantonese Opera Blouse2967/2

Woman’s lavender coloured blouse (part of costume 2967/1a-b and 2967/3). Blouse is short, to waist, with a small round neck edged in a satiny fabric. Garment opens down the back with a snap closure. Arms are full length, and heavily decorated with gold and yellow sequins in a flower and foliage pattern, with edging along the cuff. The exterior fabric is a thin crepe, while the inside is a shiny synthetic, both in the same shade of lavender. A round stamp with Chinese characters is on the inside bottom of the blouse.

Cantonese Opera Pants2967/1 a-b

Woman's opera costume pants and sash (part of costume 2967/2-3). Lavender coloured pants have a light coloured cotton waist, attached to crepe and synthetic trousers. Each pant leg is decorated on the outside bottom with flowers and foliage in gold and yellow sequins. The bottom hem is edged with the same sequins. The lavender coloured crepe sash (part b) wraps around waist of the pants, and is decorated on each end with sequenced foliage and a fringe at the hem. Three round stamps with Chinese characters are on the waist of the pants. An inscription in ink is written on the inner waistband at the edge.

Bell2956/271

Metal bell on a dark brown leather collar with a metal buckle and two rows of three holes each row. There are plastic wire stitches securing the strap around the buckle. A small metal ball hangs inside the bell from a thin metal rod. There are two uppercase letter "M” incised on the exterior of the bell, one on the back and one on the side.

Shepherd's Box2956/250 a-b

Cylindrical cork container with plastic interior (a) and small threaded cap (b). There are three metal bands encircling the exterior of the container at the top, base and midpoint. There two metal loop fasteners opposite one another along the top metal band, possibly for attaching a strap or handle.

Path of Life2956/166

Triangular wooden sculpture depicting ‘Path of Life’ scenes. The sculpture shows carved figures ascending the sides of the triangle in different life stages from birth (baby in basinet at base) to death (man in coffin at base). Christ is shown on a cross in the centre of the triangle near the base with a dove to each side. There is a gold metal bell hanging above the cross, and a blue and gold globe atop the triangle.

Penis Sheath2948/110

Penis sheath made from the upper part of a bird beak and partial skull. The beak is light yellow, slightly curved and has a smooth surface. Two large curved lines have been deeply carved into the top creating three arrow-like shapes pointing down the beak. Both sides of the beak have small perpendicular linear incisions creating small checkerboard-like patterns. The top of the beak’s tip has small parallel, incised grooves arranged in a row. The opening has a round woven band wrapped around the back of the beak. Two tufts of grey hair are tied on both sides of the woven ring with a plastic thread. A plastic thread is also tied at the back of the beak through two bored holes.

Necklace2948/91

Open necklace with numerous pendants of teeth. The teeth are secured by a woven grey-brown string, made of some kind of plant fibre. The long brown, yellow, and white teeth, with dark brown spots, are held in place by the string at their pointed ends. The teeth are mostly white on top and mostly yellow on their underside. The teeth ornaments are roughly the same size and are arranged in a row, with the shortest teeth at the ends of the row and longest teeth in the middle. A knot closes the necklace on the left side with a short length of string to tie the necklace around the neck. A small loop on the right side ties to the left string. There are longer plastic threads tied at both ends of the necklace.
