A small fabric doll with porcelain head, arms and legs, wearing a stiff gold top and wide flat skirt decorated with a string of beads.
Necklace made of small yellowish shells strung onto plastic thread. Shell-fringed medallion-like pendant is made of blue, green, and yellow plastic raffia wrapped around a disc of cardboard ? and decorated with a ring of shells around a brown seed.
Headdress made of cassowary feathers and plastic bags. The ends of the bundled long feathers, tightly wrapped with strips of black, white, green or pink plastic bags are bound together into a flat band with double braids of a variety of rope pieces that join together at the sides and continue as long braided ties, with more plastic strips intertwined. Most of the feathers (dark and some light) stick upwards from the main section of the band while light ones hang downwards from each end.
Colourful basket with rectangular base and oblong rim, woven with stiff pink, purple, white, green and natural coloured grass. Two looping macrame straps are attached at the top and bright yellow, pink, blue and green grass flowers and tassels decorated the front.
Corpus Christi headdress consisting of a grass string bound wood frame over which is stretched a screen made of canvas sacking and a sheet of gold foil. Sewn onto the foil are several shells, strands of beads (glass, plastic and possibly gemstone), earrings, pins, bone hair clips, metal tokens, and coins. A large shell is attached at the top of the headdress.
Button blanket made from dark blue wool material, with red felt borders . Central design made of red cut out felt with plastic buttons highlighting the shape of a raven with a young raven inside it. The blanket is a child' s blanket and would be worn at social occasions involving the whole community, e.g. potlatches, memorial feasts, weddings, etc. Button blankets were adaptations of dark blue Hudson Bay blankets which were traded up the coast in the 1850' s. The designs appliqued in red and outlined in buttons are of the owner' s crests and serve to identify the wearer as belonging to specific lineages. Belt that is part of a Cantonese opera costume with 1743/1 a,b,c,d,f,g. The belt is long and slightly convex belt with lower centre. It is heavily sequined and fastens together with strips of velcro over top of panel.
Long, tapered, lined panel that is part of a Cantonese opera costume with objects 1743/1 a,b,c,e,f,g. Panel is curved at bottom with smaller, similar shaped piece overlaid. Pieces are attached together to narrow band with loop at each end. Hangs from waist in front of skirt.
Collar that is part of a Cantonese opera costume with objects 1743 a,b,d,e,f,g. The collar is triangular and is attached to a narrow band, which comes down from shoulders to waist. Triangular part is worn at back. Overall design in sequins. The back is edged in a fringe of round and oblong beads. Six snaps.
