Dress is belted at the waist, with a bow tied at the back centre. Dress has a row of buttons running down the back, from the collar to the belt. Figure has a necklace with large heart-shaped pendant. Doll is holding a toy bear in her right arm, with her left arm straight along her side. Wearing knee-length socks, with a square pattern, and plain shoes. The piece is hollow and was moulded, the centre seam is visible along all sides. Hole in top centre of head, with a black plastic plug.

Bag3448/31

Small square folded woven bag with woven strap. Edged on three sides with black, embellished with a diamond-like design in multicoloured thread. The background is dark red with a central vertical band with geometric patterns in black and grey, flanked by two smaller bands in blue and dark brown-orange. On both sides are wide dark grey-blue bands with double white lines. Extending down along the bottom of the bag is long fringe. Strap is a repeating diamond design in brown and black and edge on both sides with white beads; ends stitched to upper corners of bag.

Jacket3456/1

Buckskin jacket with embroidery and fringe decoration. The jacket has a wide notch collar, long sleeves, two pockets and centre opening. Three plastic buttons along the right side of the opening. Buttons are golden brown and dark black-brown. Long tassel hanging from collar interior along left side of opening. Back of jacket is lightly pleated, flaring out at the bottom. Floral designs embroidered on either side of the jacket opening, along the cuffs and collar, and above the pockets. Flowers, vines and leaves done in red, light pink, light green, light blue, yellow, gold, light purple, dark purple, dark blue, olive green, white and black. Fringe attached to the bottom edge of the collar and along all seam lines. Fringe along sleeves and down the centre back seam is short, fringe along collar, shoulders and the side seams is long. Interior is unlined.

Tools of the Artist3403/3 a-c

Artwork representing a carver’s adze (part a) and two glass mauls (parts b-c). The adze blade is made of glass, the handle is maple, painted black. Handle is mostly cylindrical, but narrows towards the top, coming to a point. The blade is oblong, flaring out near the bottom edge, attached to hafting platform with thin, clear plastic twine. More plastic twine wrapped around the handle, near the bottom, to form a handgrip. Artist signature and year engraved into blade, directly below the twine. The larger maul (part b) has a small circular top, tapering handle, and a flared circular bottom. Both ends are flat. The other maul (part c) has a small circular top, tapering handle, and a flared circular bottom. Top has tall, rounded point in centre. Bottom end is flat. Artist signature and year engraved along the bottom edge of both mauls, on the centre back.

Joss paper offerings in the form of a shirt (part a) and pants (part b). The paper shirt has grey, off-white and orange florals on a wine-coloured background. The red with green and yellow streaks, grey dots and triangles paper open collar is adhered to the main shirt, and is outlined with shiny dark pink ribbon. The short paper pants have burgundy waffle-like spheres on an off-white background, with light blue-grey clouds, burgundy, and dark taupe dots and other shapes.

She wears black and white gingham top, with a long black and white gingham skirt that is edged with white lace. Her feet are red(?) fabric boots. She has dark purple-red hair. She wears a pearl necklace, and a multi-patterned scarf.

He has bright pink skin, almond-shaped black eyes, a large bulbous nose, an open mouth with three large teeth, and adhered black hair, moustache and goatee. His fabric body / tunic is blue with yellow and pink-red flowers. The fabric covered foam tubes are adhered to the hands. Operated by inserting a hand inside the body of the puppet to control its head and movements.
