Fertility Figure3606/1

Fertility figure (akuaba) with a flat, disc-shaped head. High oval forehead, curved brows, oval eyes, a long vertical nose, and a small mouth at the very bottom. Eight rings are carved around the neck. The short horizontal rectangular arms are outstretched straight to the sides with carved breasts between them. The lower half of the body is cylindrical and ends with a slightly wide round base. A single strand of very small yellow beads hangs around the body, just above the base. The back of the round head has horizontal lines across the middle, with two elongated half-ovals between.

Necklace with a flat rectangular beaded panel, adorned with a brown, white and orange lozenge pattern, with the shorter edges lined with white beads. Hanging from the panel are long strands of brown beaded fringe. The top of the panel is connected to a second rectangular beaded panel by six beaded braids - three on each side. The second panel has three side-by-side lozenge designs in white.

Necklace with a flat rectangular beaded panel, adorned with black, brown, and red diamond (or lozenge) patterns, with the shorter edges lined with black beads. Hanging from the panel are long strands of white and light grey beaded fringe. The white beading is on natural-coloured fibre, and the light grey is on a dark brown-black fibre. The top of the panel is connected to a second rectangular beaded panel by six braids - three on each side. The second panel is similar with white beads and three side-by-side diamond design in black, green, and pink, framed by a black border along its longer edges.

Long rectangular beaded belt with ties. The beadwork design consists of repeating lozenges, alternating large and small, on a light blue ground. The large lozenges have a purple centre with four small black and red designs, and the small lozenges are red. Both sizes are outlined in black and white. Between each lozenge are small white with black designs. The beads vary slightly in shape. There are four long ties of dark, twisted fibre; two ties on each end. Each tie has 4 white beads, larger than those in the main beadwork - 2 knotted on either end of each tie.

Fabric doll representing a married woman. Body and dress made of various black and coloured fabrics. The cape has teal and golden yellow wave ribbon with looped beaded decoration all over the back of cape; front covered in beadwork panel, plus a beaded panel apron; skirt has a loop of beadwork around the sides and back with a fringe; five rows of larger beads wrap around midsection of body. Disc-like beaded headdress on top on a metal frame; eyes, nose and mouth beaded; beaded earrings and four rows of necklace against neck, plus one larger round band. Doll stands on two rectangular wooden feet that are nailed on. The body is filled with stuffing.
