Shadow Puppet3338/9 a-c

Sun Wukong (Monkey King) shadow puppet with separate head (part b) and gold staff(?) (part c). Depicted with a human-like body, and monkey head. He wears a long yellow tunic with red tie ending in green tassels around his waist, and red pants. On his feet he wears tiger(?) shoes. His head is yellow with five black spots, except for a mask-like area around his eyes and nose. Limbs jointed with fibre at the shoulders, elbows and hips. Operated by three rods. The staff is yellow, with a thin red outline, and is operated by one rod.

Shadow Puppet3338/8 a-c

Ju Bajie (Pigsy) shadow puppet with separate head (part b) and accessory rake (part c). Pigsy is depicted with a human body, and pig head. His head is more translucent and shiny than the body. He has a pig snout and large pig ears, large almond-shaped eyes and black eyebrows. He wears a black hat with a green band that is tied with red string, knotted under his chin. He wears an open black tunic with green edging. His hip, knee and elbow joints have wheel-like designs. On his feet he wears black shoes tied with red string. Limbs jointed with fibre at the shoulders, elbows and hips. Operated by three rods. The rake is black with a curved neck, row of triangular teeth, and is operated by one rod.

Shadow Puppet3338/10 a-e

Sha Wujing (Evil Sandman/Sandy) shadow puppet with separate head (part b), weapon accessory (part c), two large bundles (parts d-e). He wears a monk's robe of a yellow, green, red and black hexagon pattern and has curly black facial hair as well as long curly black hair, which is tied back by a green headband topped with a crescent shape and tied with red ties. He wears a large red hoop in his ear, and a large brown beaded necklace. Limbs jointed with fibre at the shoulders, elbows and hips. Operated by three rods. The monk's spade or crescent moon spade (part c) consists of a long pole with a flat spade-like blade on one end and a crescent-shaped blade with two orange loops on the other. Operated by one rod. With him are two bundles, both dark green rectangles outlined in red and light green. Bundle (part d) has a blue bag and large yellow straw hat, and bundle (part e) has a yellow bag.

Jellyfish Sculpture3308/1

Jellyfish figure made from reclaimed plastic fishing nets ("ghost nets"), plastic twine and rope. Woven white hood, and white tentacles, some loose and some braided, decorated with looped strands of orange or brown plastic. A matted section of plastic extends down from the centre, with the long tentacles around it. There is one coiled, disc-shaped decoration in the tentacles, white wrapped with thin brown strands.

Round black velvet hat with silver plastic sequins. Brim features row of horizontal sequins with parallel row above, and pattern of alternating vertical and grouped sequins in-between. Seam of crown and sideband has alternating coloured pompoms. Crown is flat with circular design of embroidered sequins. Long multi-coloured wool tassel attached to circular patch at crown.

Long coat. Denim cotton garment has long sleeves, is open at the front, with an embroidered collar in purple and tan which is edged with a line of beading and tiny pompoms in pink and blue. Forearms are constructed of a different material in a dark blue. Edges of bottom hem, side slits and front opening are lined in red silk (?). Back of coat has Hmong style embroidery in green, purple and tan in repeating square and zigzag motifs bordered by layered bands of red applique. A rectangle of similar embroidery is sewn to the centre back of the coat.
