Hide jacket with bead work and fringe. The jacket has a short standing collar, long cuffed sleeves and centre opening with hook and eye closures. On the front is a deep ‘U’ shape beneath the collar with a beaded floral motif on black appliqué fabric. There are two pockets on the lower front. There are beaded patches on the front, pockets, shoulders and upper back. Patches include floral motifs, fish skeleton and rectangular shapes. There is fringe on the ‘U’ shape, sleeves and upper back. There are braids of brown hair attached to the back of each shoulder. The inside is unlined.

Light brown leather trousers. The waistband is narrow with belt loops. The centre fly has plastic button closures. There is a yellow, red and brown ribbon threaded through the loops. On the back are two slits leading to fabric lined pockets. The legs are tapered with laces through the back lower legs. Modeled after riding breeches.

Long, beaded bridal train, rectangular in shape. The body of the object has a white beaded background with dark blue, green, purple, aqua and red geometric designs outlined in black. The bottom tapers to an end with three white beaded shapes decreasing in size: square, rectangle and triangle. The top is edged with large orange beads that attach to a large, two stringed, ring of black, dark blue, aqua, purple and orange beads displayed in a repeating pattern.

Rectangular shaped brown case with an embroidered floral motive on each side. One side consists of white and pink lotuses on top of green leaves and steams. The other holds pink peonies on top of green leaves and steams with a two fruit stems next to it and blue tufts of grass along the bottom. Inside the case is a blue compartment that pulls out; attached are mauve and blue tassels with white and red detailing on the blue ties. The top of the case has a large piece of blue twine looped to suspend the case.

Child's pants in red fabric with white edging and a three-dimensional design depicting a green rabbit-like figure with protruding pink eyes as well as four insect-like figures in multicoloured fabric. The figures are painted with facial features in black and are embellished with embroidered lines. Two thin red fabric straps emerge from the back and fasten with two clear buttons at the top front.

Woven, wool hat, conical in shape with two long rectangular ties. The body of the hat is detailed with a red geometric pattern with stripes of orange, brown, red and burgundy on a light brown ground. There are two triangular earflaps decorated with cream buttons bordered on each side with small white beads. Both of the ties are bordered with small white, blue, yellow and pink beads. There is a fuchsia tassel on the top.

Garment made of green fabric with a shape that angles inwards on the sides and is embroidered with three flowers in red, pink and yellow as well as a red, pink, yellow and purple toothed border along the bottom and partially up the sides. Attached to the green fabric is a rectangular flap embroidered with a multicoloured floral motif and a pink border with squares formed by a checked white pattern. Two triangles of silver domed beads adorn each bottom corner of the rectangle. A dark blue and black fabric strap emerges from the top of the cover.

Multi-coloured embroidered and beaded square textile. The embroidery is predominantly orange, with deep pink and purple accents, worked in chain stitch on green silk background; the design field is divided into four identical quadrants, separated by rows of gold metallic braid. In each corner of the textile, and in the centre, are prominent multi-coloured discs (known as ‘dress flowers’); each disc is decorated with glass beads arranged in concentric circles around a small mirror. All edges of the square are trimmed with a short, heavy fringe of white glass beads. The discs are stiffened, probably with light weight cardboard. The piece is backed with red cotton textile.

Costume ChestEdz1834 a-d

Large red trunk with rounded lid and black metal studding along the top edge and sides. On the front is painted “Made in Kumlon Chang Co., Chong Yueneong Street, Canton” in yellow. Beneath the lettering is a yellow number "3" and circle with red flowers and green leaves. Flanking the circle are green vertical stripes with yellow Chinese characters. On the left side is a yellow Canadian Pacific Express Company prepaid sticker. There are metal rings, hooks and handles on the four sides. The inside of the trunk is covered with paper, painted brown. There is a black leather strap nailed to the lid. There are three boards (part b-d) that fit across the top.
